OK, brother, here's my breakdown! MOST ARTWORK SOLD: Main St. Fort Worth, 105 pieces LEAST ARTWORK SOLD: Artfest Fort Myers - 16 pieces BUT … this show also had the highest average sale of the year. Not $850, but strong. EASIEST SETUP: Alexandria Old Town (Spring). Holy smokes. Zero cars and people on the street… just pull in at 4am or earlier and get at it! HARDEST SETUP: Main St. Fort Worth. Long story… but if you are setting up on a side street, there are some logistics that I could have used prior to the event. Phew. Rough. We manually loaded out 3 blocks away including four 60 lb kettle bells. I made a wagon for the weights immediately after that show and put 100% of my gear and artwork on wheels. I can now load in from anywhere, even in rain. I would absolutely do this show again but I would request Main St. instead of requesting a side street. MOST FUN: Coconut Grove Arts Festival. I just wrote a review of this show for Sunshine Artist and I proclaimed it to be the only art show I’ve participated in that feels like a full scale actual celebration of art and artists. I stand by that! LEAST FUN: Artfest Fort Myers. It was cold, windy and we only sold 14 pieces - it was immediately after the show someone called me and I made two huge sales, giving that show the highest avg sale. LOWEST AVG SALE: Alexandria Old Town BIGGEST CROWD: Main St. Forth Worth. I was in that horde, too! We had over 1,200 step in our booth on Saturday alone (not counting children or people who viewed from the outside only). 2,500 total persons for the four days. SMALLEST CROWD: Tie! 457 persons in our tent for the weekend of Old Town Alexandria (2 days, 228 person avg), 686 persons in our booth for Artfest Fort Myers (3 days, 228 person avg). MOST EXPENSIVE BOOTH FEE: Main St. Fort Worth, $950 for single, no corner. MOST ARTISTS: Main St. Fort Worth FEWEST ARTISTS: Old Town Alexandria LEAST TRAVEL: Arts in the Heart of Augusta, 134 miles MOST TRAVEL: Main St. Fort Worth, almost 1,000 miles one way for us but we made an incredible trip out of it. MOST PROFITABLE SHOW OF ALL TIME: Coconut Grove 2023 LEAST PROFITABLE SHOW OF ALL TIME: Brookgreen Gardens 2017 - $9. Not a typo. $9. 3 post cards. Painful. LEAST PROFITABLE SHOW OF 2023: Old Town Alexandria (Spring) And… You’ll be ashamed of me - I have no email list. I mean, technically I have one on my website but I don't collect emails at events.

You’re a champion! 🏆 Great info here and very interesting how we have some of the same winners. Also, the way you keep track of people in your booth is great data. It’s never too late to start an email list. When I started mine in 2015, I thought I had missed the boat on email marketing and would never build any kind of useful list🤣 Now I’m coming up on having it for 10 years. I’ve admittedly slacked on sending emails this year because I’ve been so overwhelmed with everything in my life. But I’ll kick my own butt back into gear. Thanks again for taking the time to write and share this info. It’s very generous.

@@EvanReinheimer Well, after I watched your video I started segmenting what email list customers I have into "Subscribed" & the state and then "Subscribed Buyers" (by state) so maybe you'll change my life once again, Evan.
@EvanReinheimer
@EvanReinheimer 2 ай бұрын
@@JoeHiltabidelan email list doesn’t have to be big to make a difference. Once it’s all set up, sending an email is pretty quick to send out short emails to let people know where you’re showing or just remind them that you exist. I stopped segmenting mine by geographic area because even if people weren’t in the area where the show is, the email would remind them about me and sometimes prompt a sale or two. I also usually limit emails to 2 a month max, so it’s not overwhelming.

Hi Evan! I met you for the first time at the Memorial Day Montauk Art Festival 2023! It was my second show ever and you were so kind to me and my partner. Keep doing what you’re doing! Your KZfaq channel and the Indy Arts Podcast are a great resource for newbies like me! And please, keep it hokey. It’s your vibe and I love it! I only did Hamptons shows last year because I live on Long Island and so don’t need a hotel. I barely made a cent but I learned a lot and made some major changes over the winter and I think things will be better this year. I have to thank the generous spirit of the veterans who gave me great direction and advice, yourself included.

Hi Tessa! It was YEARS before I made a cent at art shows...no exaggeration. I also started just doing shows on Long Island and slowly branched out to the tri-state area and New England. Each show, I tried to improve just one little thing. Over time all those little improvements add up. You're already lightyears ahead of where I was after my first year. Keep at it, so long as you enjoy it! I'll see you in the Hamptons this summer!

I have been exhibiting at our lical farmer's market for the past 2 years. Not a lot of sales vut good practice. I will be in my second art festival in Beaumont in 2 weeks and my third will be happening in a month. I have learned a lit from you. My goal is to travel, make photos, and do art shows where my art features the natural areas around where i do the shows

Another great video!! Don't listen to the haters, I thought your video wasn't long enough. I enjoyed the shirt too lol. Here's some thoughts: - I have heard from 2 other artists that the Boca Fine Art Show is "slow and not worth it". But their work, in my opinion, is not as good as yours. Interesting that you also noticed it is slow but it is worth it for you. - I love the Las Olas show, and I always imagined that it would be difficult to set up, and you kind of confirmed that for me. It does seem like a great show. We always go to it since it's such a fun event just to even walk around. My experience: I've done the Pompano Untapped event (1st Friday night of every month), the Pompano Beach Green Market, Pompano Beach Nautical Flea Market, the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival, and a couple free mini art shows in plazas. - Untapped event was decent, but it's been slow lately. The City of Pompano does a horrible job advertising it and it's more of a food truck event. Low $40 entry fee but the foot traffic has been noticeably slower and slower. "The snowbirds will be here soon", but they never came in droves. I'm in the fire academy now so stopped doing it due to time constraints, but I'm not sure if I'll do that one again. - Green Market: I did this a few weeks before Christmas 2023. It was a good event 8 AM - 2 PM. I was only able to do this event once. Unsure if sales were good because it was right before Christmas or not. I would like to do a few more green markets. $30 entry. - Free mini art shows in plazas: no entry fee, lots of advertising for the events... Zero turnout. Almost zero sales at either one. Lots of business cards taken and "I'll call you about a custom order", but not one follow up order. Not worth it at all. - Nautical Flea Market: great event, $150 booth. Big sales, lots of custom orders. My best event I've ever done. However, some people are there strictly for used fishing equipment and don't care at all about art. But because it was a flea market, and my unfortunate booth placement, I was next to two booths where the people were standing in the aisles heckling potential customers almost like carnies at a bad carnival, so some people walked by very quickly to get by. - Seafood Festival: Last year was my 2nd show I ever did and I did great. Great clientele of people. $400 booth. However, they made it very expensive to get into ($20 per person entry per day for a 3 day event, and $10 parking) and a lot of other vendors said foot traffic was very low compared to past years. This year it's only 2 days, $15/day entry or $20 all weekend pass, free parking. It's this weekend. I have big high hopes for the event, I'm expecting it to be my biggest show ever. I know I need to branch out from events solely in Pompano Beach and I want to get away from the Farmer's Markets style of events and into the bigger events like the Las Olas show and Juno Beach Art Show and other fine art shows. Obviously a lot more $$$ entry wise, but a much broader audience that appreciates art. I'm trying to turn my art away from Pompano Beach-specific photos into more generic photos that could appeal to everyone. Beach scenes, sea turtles, etc. I'm a fisherman at heart and I really want to capture Guy Harvey-esque photos underwater. Like fishing scenes, but artistic photo fishing scenes. Thank you for all of your help. Also, any tips to get more people to sign up for your email list at shows? I have very few people that sign up for shows. Do you have your list out for people to write in? Do you ask every customer that makes a sale to sign up? Thank you!!

Great info, thank you for taking the time to share all of this. Starting local is absolutely a great route, it’s what I did. Each show, each year, I just tried to get one step better in some way. It’s something that I still do. For my mailing list, I have a clipboard with sign up out on my desk. That gets anywhere from a couple to a handful of signups in a weekend. The other thing I do is ask everyone who buys something if they’d like to be added so they will know about upcoming shows and new work. Most people say “yes” to this.

Have you done a video about how you decide which artwork and prints to include for a specific show, so that your work is tailored to your audience and geographic market? Also which shows have craft markets other than Juno Beach, which I do every year? Thanks! Love your work.

Just found your channel and i think its great! Awesome info. A couple topics I would love to hear about from your experience. How do you prepare with replacement images for when you make a sale at a show (do you hang an identical one or something different in that open spot)? How do you prepare for packaging items at festivals (materials, space, etc)? Do you focus on limited edition works or open editions? Have you found it matters to people? Lighting in your tent... do you ever bring lights and have you found it helps? Thanks!!
