How come MGA produces such high quality dolls (hair, fashion, details) but Mattel, as a giant Company, has to produce really the cheapest (!) Barbie dolls on the market?! No idea how they will profit off that movie in a few months tbh

What you said about kids playing with a doll for 5 min vs years really made me think. My niece is 5 and honestly she seems to enjoy buying dolls more than she does actually playing with them. Instead of buying one quality doll (like Rainbow High) Barbie's prices means my niece can buy a bunch of Barbies with the same amount of money. They're almost designed to be replaced. It's like fast fashion but for dolls. Maybe Barbie is still doing so well even with the low quality because this is how our consumerism works now.

Honestly what I’m excited for is seeing kids look back on rainbow high like I do for monster high. I just think that seeing other people have that same nostalgia as a lot of people do for monster high, but for rainbow high, will just be so enjoyable to be a part of!

My brother got me the white Shadow High doll for Christmas and honestly, it's absolutely stunning. Like, ridiculously stunning. The hair feels like silk. I don’t normally collect fashion dolls but I might have to start now cause these things are beautiful. To the point where I'm wondering if anyone actually buys them for their kids. Cause I dunno if I would. These things look like they were made for decorative purposes only.

When you put up the images for the worst dolls of 2022, Barbie Fashionistas and new Totally Hair, I noticed nearly each doll had a different face sculpt, hair style, texture, color, complexion, etc. Some had pleasing fashions. Barbie’s diversity and price point variety has always been a stand out in doll production.

My favorite dolls this year were the Limited Edition dolls Disney released for rare characters, like Esmeralda, Megara, Giselle and Kida. It was wonderful to see these characters getting some love. The wedding snow white doll was also very nice

I’m incredibly surprised that AvaStars were not mentioned in the “worst doll lines” category. Admittedly, the dolls themselves aren’t that bad, but I feel like they automatically deserve to be placed in last place because they promote the idea of NFTs to children.

It's weird realizing that Shadow High has only been around for a year because it seems like we got a lot of dolls... the original 6, the twins, Ainsley, neon shadow, costume ball and series 2... is that 21 Shadow High dolls? I actually wanted one of the pink fashion show OMGs, but they were either full price or sold out, so I guess they were a hit. Ayesha's so pretty, she deserves her spot at the the top. I don't think Dream Ella deserves to be at the bottom though. The Extra Iconic ones seem fine. Barbie is a mixed bag.

My fave line for 2022 was Shadow High. Their vibe matches with me. I've finally ordered one. I got Shanelle because her outfit is my fave out of all of them. Next year I want to hopefully start making clothes for them. I also like the RH & SH blind boxes. Just wish they were cheaper and how come Barbie never did these before. 😸🌸

RH/SH is such an iconic doll line!! the quality, the diversity, the fashions!!! well deserved the first place!! though it had some missteps (Roxie and Maria), the line has been very consistent. i really hope they'll give us new surprises this new year like, the first special edition couple for Saint Valentne, for example. i can't wait to get one of the new shadow high dolls, since the serie 2 is already avelable at Amazon!!!

I have a feeling the Barbie movie coming out next summer is gonna cause a boom for adult Barbie collectors, and adult doll collecting has gradually been growing in popularity in that last few years anyway. But with a major motion picture I think it's going to only raise the tide. And I hope when that happens, Mattel realizes they can capitalize on it if they make their current dolls all the more worth buying for the quality, artistry, and collectability. This Barbie movie better have an impact on the toy industry.

I collect Barbie Fashionistas, and I give them Made To Move bodies, so I could pose them for pictures, and I give them new outfits. The same goes for the Dreamtopia Dolls, Color Reveal Dolls (Only with rooted hair), and Barbie Extra Dolls.

I forbade myself from doll collecting because of space limitations, but I couldn't resist those shadow high dolls. My roommate and I both wound up getting one. They're so gorgeous!

I'm not a collector myself, but I buy for my girls 8 and 10 yrs old. Their favourite doll line is lol OMG. Surprisingly, they don't ask for rainbow high. This christmas they got the two OMG fashion dolls Twist Queen and Lady Braids and these dolls have beautiful hair to play with and style.

What you said about a child playing with a doll for 5 minutes vs keeping it for life is so true. When I was a kid, I was really into Disney princesses. I have kept them for several years (I then gifted them to my cousin when she was a kid). As I grew up, I became a fan of Monster High. I still have most of my Monster High dolls (even though some are misssing parts). I remember I got the Wave 2 Dracularua and Clawd set on my 10th birthday and still have them a decade later. Idk, something about the new Barbie dolls just feel off compared to how they were in the early 2000's.

i feel like usually i don’t have the biggest problem with painted on clothing if they’re reasonably done or if they’re just made out of external plastic that we can snap on and off, but seems like now not only we don’t get a lot of articulation, but we don’t have a lot of customization options into barbie dolls as well because a lot of barbie dolls now are built to be stuck into what they are and you can’t give them more details or articulation without keeping the original design and you have to sacrifice the wasteful plastic pieces as well. that’s one of the problems i really wish was never a problem

I have every Addison doll but one and I love them 🥺 What made me want them is that I wish we got more celebrity dolls made by random, lesser-known doll companies. I was too young to notice it but there used to be way more in the past. The Spice Girls dolls, the Britney dolls, ect. Mattel occasionally makes celebrity dolls but I'd love to see more playline releases from smaller doll manufacturers. Her face definitely is off, though

I think Barbie has gone so far down the tubes, that if Mattel doesn't do something to make her a lot better, they could even go under :( Barbie used to be my favorite doll, but not anymore. As to my favorite dolls for the year, it would be Monster High collector dolls more aimed at adults. I don't have all of them because they were so hard to obtain, but I do love them. Secondly I love the first wave of Shadow High. I would like to see more grey scale dolls this year and for it to be easier to get Monster High collector dolls. Take care sweetie :)

Barbie Cutie Reveal was an okay doll with great articulation and fashion, however they have a painted on bathing suits which does not thrill. Still probably the best the best thing Barboe has put out recently. I cannot agree more about rainbow high dolls. For this Christmas one of my daughters got the barbie Cutie Reveal, they other got the rainbow high rainbow vision.

They were around $20 and now some have gone way way up. But I really liked them. They had better clothes than the BMR dolls.

Happy new year, I definitely need to get more rainbow high dolls. I have none. I have been busy collecting disney and lol omg dolls. And can I just say, finally... Finally someone agrees with me about the omg fierce dolls!!! I get it, the tots then the teens then the omg lols.. they are the same doll at different ages kind of but do something new with this line and yes. I loved the Cleopatra doll she's was overpriced but unique. I loved that. Mattel creations sells and imports the rewind dolls. They are reasonably priced (I'm sure you know about that store anyway) i have Barbie membership so I'm always on there browsing the collector Silkstone dolls so I've definitely seen them. I think those two specific dolls have sold out though but they always seem to restock. Randomly with no warning. And I'm not surprised about Barbie being the last in that vote, playline dolls are putting out the same quality if not better compared to some of her collector dolls. I'm personally done. I'm done with the Silkstones I'm done with the repros. I'm done. I would rather buy the Disney dolls at least those major childhood memories attached to the characters. I'm just hoping that the Barbie movie makes the higher ups at Mattel look at the older designs and think "ok we should do that again" and then they rebrand and get rid of Millie.

low quality for barbie isnt an issue for them because of just how long shes been established as the "top fashion doll" - they could paint clothes on and throw them in a tube and sell em cheap - barbie lovers are STILL gonna buy them. the different levels of materials included with the dolls themselves, that has a lot to do with age range. the colour reveals i believe are geared to younger crowds, where you can get a barbie and not worry about the kids eating or losing pieces. (we ALL know how much we lost our doll shit as kids hahahaha) for quality control overall, its like anything else being capitalized on : the cheaper the quality, the faster the play and wear time, the faster theyre off to buy another one. p much why i stopped liking barbie altogether. id rather find more unique dolls, even if they arent as known, or like a barbie. the RH/SH, na-na-na, LOL OMG dolls (just bought QUEEN SWAYS yesterday!) are what doll lovers want. sure they can still wear and tear, but damn at least its worth it.

I love Rainbow High SO MUCH! Did you see the music video they put out? It's a Shadow High music video version of "School across the street". I have 8 Rainbow High and 1 Junior High doll now :3 I had to get Poppy as a mini version, because she is not aviable anymore here :( Now she sits on the doll shelve and holds her backpack on her lap :3 I love these dolls so much! So cute, so pretty, so unique and they have a nice shape to hold. Of course the joints make everything a million percent better! The only ones left for now are the Chinese New Year doll and the neon green one.

Went to smiths toy store and found they have colour reveal disney addition. I was shook. I guess it makes sense as colour reveal is mattels biggest earner so of course they would do a disney version now they have the licence. But I knew nothing about it till I seen it. Even tried to find it online and found nothing. It was £17 and was small, probably will be Chelsea size

I didn’t know of the fan list so I’ll put my top three plus a few honorable mentions. HM1: Fidget Friends - Decent price, good design and I got adhd (among other mental disabilities) so these are like perfect for me but I haven’t gotten one yet so can’t really include it in the official top 3. HM2: Holiday Draculaura - Hoping Target gets her back so I can order one when I get paid. HM3: LOL Tweens S3, 4 and Masquerade - Love all of them. Can’t go wrong with a Marilyn Monroe and Ginger Spice themed doll. Also the Alice In Wonderland themed Masquerade dolls are genius in every way. HM4: RH/SH Costume Party - I love how these look and I’m hoping to be able get the ones I want most. HM5: LOL OMG World Travel - More specifically Fly Gurl because I’m a 90’s kid so Britney Spears themed doll is a big yes in my books. #3 Best: Luna Madison - Though I like all of Shadow High, Luna got my interest most because she’s Sunny’s twin (and of course I like her design the most) and Sunny’s my fav so I need her twin. Thankfully I got her as a birthday gift from one of my bffs who admitted that they got me it because they knew how much I wanted her. So Luna also holds some sentimental value to me as a result of that. #2 Best: Rainbow Vision - More specifically Minnie Cho cause while I like all of the others (especially the pink ones in the other two groups because fav color) the moment I saw her at Walmart, I was captivated. It was like I hadn’t seen something so beautiful before. I actually just got her in the mail today as a late Christmas gift from my parents. #1 Best - Monster High G3 - Now initially Minnie would of been number one but I was never really a fan of MH when it originally came out. Was still really big and more into Bratz (still am) so it was never on my radar whenever I came across it outside of the Shipwreck Draculaura doll I bought on clearance at Walmart for five bucks. However the moment I found out about G3, I loved them and once they came out I did something I never really do which is hunt for them. I got the ones I wanted most (Draculaura being a birthday gift from my parents because these came out during my birthday month) and I’m looking forward to getting the others that have been released so yeah that’s why they’re number one. They did basically the impossible by making me into an MH fan.

Barbie is definitely the worst line of this year, and that's coming from a barbie fan. This year I have found myself wandering into the Rainbow High section and leaving with a new doll. Barbie is just cheap boring trash, and is sad to see 😔

I'm one of those kids who grew up with barbie dolls from the days when Mattle don't take us for suckers (today I've lost hope so much that I don't even look on the shelves for new products in the range ) But when I discovered the rainbow hight... I hallucinated about their quality and their coolness (I hope it will force Mattle to question himself!!)

I get being kinda pissed off about not finding the dolls, but I can't help finding it funny to give them a worse score for it, since I live in south america and if I want almost any of this dolls I have to buy them on ebay from the US, cause they simple don't come here at all

My favorites are American Girl, Barbie (Fashionistas, Extras, Extra Fancys, and Minis), and LOL OMG, especially the Tweens. RH and SH are stunning in a lot of ways but I don't like how they're so derivative of designer brands.

Sorry the barbies are in Australia. And the monster high isn’t in Australia but I have seen them on sale from eBay. They are have came OMG SO JELLY as the two Shadow High sisters are SUPER, SUPER EXPENSIVE here in shops in Australia, this year 2023 and the other Rainbow high Characters are so hard to finds by prices.

My favorite doll line of 2022 was definitely the Haunt Couture line (Monster High). I've been a fan of Monster High since 2012 and I was glad to see the OG version come back after years of the reboot (I loved the rebbot's storyline and animation style but I didn't like the dolls that much). I had saved up to buy one (Draculaura) (she's always been my favorite character) and on the day of her release, I ended up needing emergency dental work due to an infection. When I came home, she was already sold out and now scalpers sell her for more than 400$ CAD (without shipping), which is crazy because each doll of this line was originally 80$.😒 Mattel reallly needs to fix their scalper problem, has this has been an issue with many collector dolls recently (I've heard many similar stories). I hope I can find her for a regular price someday!🤞
