It feels weird playing the old smash games and forgetting you cant charge midair. It always bothered me. But when Sakurai mentioned that she finally can in ultimate, i said “LETS GOOO FINALLY! THATS ALL SHE NEEDED”

Melee Samus has a 2frame input window "teleport" The highest recovery, with a small input window The widest recovery Can break shields, inescapably, in less than a second, with inhuman input windows And can grab characters above, below, or behind her, again with tight input windows Also she beeps and stuff

Melee Samus is okay, but she’s definitely fallen off as the game continues to get faster and more optimized. She’s far from bad, but she’s quite fringe, and close to the cutoff point for viable characters. It’s sort of telling that you don’t really see many Samus mains any more, as most of them have either declined in results, switched mains, or retired. Ult Samus is just straight up a great character. She matches up pretty well against some big threats, and has solid results to back it up. Yaura, quiK, sisqui, IcyMist, and many more continue to place very well with the character.

Really want to disagree on the best version but, ugh, you're probably right. She's at her strongest in Ultimate but man do I wish she had her Melee missiles in that game. They are a much more imposing as a damage source with the Super Missiles in particular hitting like absolute freight trains, and the ability to land cancel them makes them way more fun to use. The systemic differents like her having a good wavedash and crouch cancel in Melee were also great and paired really well with her beast of a down smash, and the tricky stuff you can do with her tether recovery are super fun. But we ARE talking strength here and Ultimate really does help the bounty hunter out in a lot of ways.

Highly disagree. Worst one was n64 where shes the worst character. Still sort of viablr but compared to everyone else in the gsme, worst character. At least in brawl she had short hop side b. Compared to everyone else in the game in brawl, she was definitely low tier there but not the worst character in that game so n64 was her worst showcasing of her appearance.

Wasn't 64 samus always pretty low on tier lists? Feel like Samus had more success in Melee where she was always hovering around high/mid tier, always either the best of the worst or the worst of the best
