There are actually quite a few mystical approaches that can have that effect, it seems magic users really don't like people with higher intelligence, probably has something to do with the ability to think critically and question things, those two thought processes usually have a way of undermining magic, especially when it comes from another magic-user.

Hawkeye never played catch up in EMH, he considered himself too good for a group he has to save every week. And he was right. It's true in the comics... say it with me, "depending on the writer"... but in EMH, he was never out of his element. "Everyone's turned into Gamma Monsters? Who do I know who's knows this stuff? Banner. How do I get Banner out of the Hulk?" Hawkeye to Hulk "I'll beat you physically." Hulk:: "HA!" And Hulk was so amused he turned back into Banner which is how Hawkeye beat him. Hawkeye's experience gives him cunning, his cunning keeps him two steps ahead of the other guy. Clint wasn't included in Amora's spell not because he was underestimated, I think it's he can't be broken down by one quality. "He's a supernaturally accurate archer!" Yeah... but what puts him in the most advantageous position for that one accurate shot?

I think so too Iron Man allways depends on his tech and intelligence, Captain America may allways had the heart and the will but deep down he also thought who would he been without the Serum, Thor allready was good explained in the Video. But Hawkeye he knows who he is what he made wrong in the past and what is all his good and bad behavior he knows and accept himself how he is. You can also see this in other versions of animated Avengers Series like this one that plays in the same universe as Ultimate Spiderman and Hulk and the Agents of Smash. In the Avengers series of this universe there is an Episode were the Avengers switch bodys because of M.O.D.O.K. and the Mindstone. Rigth after the Body Switch everyone tried to act like the body in that they are like Hawkeye tried to use Mjollnir because he was in Thors body, Black Widow just tried smashing things because she was in Hulk´s body and so on. At the end of the Episode Hawkeye was the very first who had the idea that assured the victory he stopped trying to copy Thor ut instead used Thors body combined with his own skills and after that everyone tried the same and they beat M.O.D.O.K. wich bye the way was in this episode in control of the Hellicarrier.

Anyone else notice how Hawkeye is just a pro? He by and large just relies on skill. I liked in Thor he considered a rifle, than grabs a bow. He's sometimes arrogant, but he earned it. I love Cap. Tony losing his intelligence reminds me of the story where he had to delete all the knowledge in his mind to keep Norman osborne from getting it. While on the run you just see him lose his brilliance bit by bit until he's eventually little more than a vegetable. He was at the peak of his influence and status as one of the greatest minds and watching him fall like that, after Civil war sure, alot of people were ready to see that downfall, but its tough to read as an Iron man fan.

Its a shame this show got cancelled because it started introducing more into it, Ragnarok, Surtur, X-Men, Spider-Man and so on. The shows we got in replacement just went downhill as they progressed. Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers Assemble, Agents of Smash and Ultimate Spider-man had none of the charm this show had built. I think those shows are all finished with now so marvel/ disney could always revive this series one day. A man can hope.

I'm in agreement on that front. Powerless is pretty high on my list, I think my first time seeing it was a sort of marathon of the series they ran on Disney XD during the build-up to the series finale. And even after all these years, I am still hoping for a season 3 of EMH to happen, mostly because Disney now has direct access to the metrics regarding the viewing preferences of their shows and movies, which means they can actually see just how well-loved, and watched, EMH is, in addition to purchases of physical and digital copies of the series for the private collections of fans to watch on other platforms. And I am with you, Powerless is a great look at Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man when they have super part of who they are stripped from them and we get to see their mindsets as characters and what the absence of these powers mean to them, they are in essence stripped down to the core of their characters. And the thing about Hawke Eye is that we know from his interactions in prior episodes, and the episode itself, with all the other members of the Avengers, especially those 3, is that even if he had been stripped of his fancy bow and assortment of advanced arrows all the way back to a more traditional medieval arsenal nothing would really change about him as a character. What makes Hawk Eye such an incredible ordinary person isn't that he had some natural talent or superior training or was born with access to resources or any innate powers, what makes him so incredible is that he knew he had no natural skills and chose to train in those skills out of necessity. Something I think a lot of people miss about Enchantress's depowering spell, aside from what probably flew over their heads before it was explained in this video, is that the spell specifically took away powers and abilities that were granted or innate to the individual, which is why Tony's magical lobotomy happened (Tony was always an innate technologically capable individual), Captain America's powers were granted to him by the super-soldier serum (the power it granted magnified his innate personality), And Thor lost access to both his mystical abilities and godly strength (both of which were innate to him as part of his unique lineage). But that's not the way for Hawk Eye, he had to work to get to where he was, because of his background as both a member of the Circus of Crime and S.H.I.E.L.D. agent both forced him to work for what he earned and prove his skills in trying situations.

Anyway, as fun as the episode was when I watched it, I will admit to having some beef with it on my second viewing. The entire episode seems to have a point of Thor learning to be humble, but that never seems to be much of a problem before this episode? The one with Spiderman and Captain America was one I really liked because it built off the Skrull Invasion episodes a few episodes back, and that's one that I think worked really well as a character driven story, but for Thor learning humility, I just felt it was done better in the episode with the Malekith episode. Anyway, that's all I gotta say. I really need to sleep now.

I think if you watch how Thor acts before this episode with ‘powerless’ in mind, you can see a little bit of a superiority complex in him. As mentioned in the post, I saw the series on DVDs (but approximately at the time it was still on the air, between 2010-2014), and I was able to enjoy this great episode, although I'm not sure if in my country it was on television. Either way, you narrate the show's interesting off-camera facts pretty well, and I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

I just found your channel. I was a huge fan of this version of the Avengers. I became rather disappointed by Avengers Assemble replacement because this version was so good. It's great to discover that there's a community of people that share the same affection for it. Thank you for doing these videos.

I’m from the US, and I remember thatwhen I was younger, there being some sort of australian (I think) tv channel that aired this show, and had full episodes posted to their website. It was actually quite a couple episodes ahead of the american version, so I was able to watch episodes a few months in advance. One of the episodes was this one (powerless), and I remember being really surprised when they skipped over it in the American broadcast

The balance of character and plot is the reason I love the good place so much. The plot is about becoming a better person. Every character development drivers a plot point, and vice versa. It doesn't stretch itself too thin by focusing on both, but links them to be one and the same.

I lived in Texas at the time and was waiting what felt like years for season 2 to air. I recorded and watched every new episode every Sunday. I remember this episode airing in the middle of the season just like every other episode, seeing reruns, etc. I guess I was one of the few who saw it aired like normal. Then I remember Disney+ coming out and showing this as the last episode, I was confused like, “what? Maybe this episode was the last production episode before it was canceled” it’s not uncommon for shows to show episodes out of production order. It wasn’t until recently that I learned the episode didn’t air until way later in some parts of the world. Still it was great to learn about what season 3 was supposed to look like thought with magic and mutants.

Hey, I made it into a video. I love this episode so much! I really wish it was listed as episode 15, like it was intended (I originally saw it when the show used to be on Netflix, and it was listed correctly there.) I love how into this series this guy is. I was on top of it when it came out. I dont remember watching it on Disney XD. I was watching it online instead. I didn't miss this episode so I never new it didn't air here. I didn't really like the episode much anyway. The heroes kinda became weenies without their powers which I thought was a bit overkill but it was an EMH episode so that automatically makes it leagues beyond a lot of other stuff. I guess until I make my own cartoon I will be looking for the next hot Japanese property to keep me entertained.
