Thanks for the blade reviews! With so many reviews done on shovels (loft jacked, low spin, thick top lines and soled irons), many of us want to see reviews on fine instruments.

Glad to hear you enjoyed! Players style clubs are my forte, so I was pumped having the opportunity to test these 🙌 What irons are you currently gaming? Are there any other players irons/clubs you’d like to see me test in the future?

@@TheEquipmentJunkie Gaming 2023 T100 5-PW, 2023 T150 4 iron. DG TI X100. Always been intrigued with Miura TC-201 and MB-101. If I was brave enough, I would get a set of MB-101. Still have my Nike Victory Red TW Blades and gamed the Titleist MB 710 irons back in the day.

Ordered my 88b2's 2 weeks ago from Dragon Golf in Germany.....Cant wait to get them....5-6 weeks....the 88 has a slightly wider sole than the mb1.....I have both as test clubs before I made a decision as to which one.....both have the smallest face footprint of any club out there around 50mm wide only.....the customization options on Makino is excellent.....you can choose the blade shape, top line shape, sole relief, offset and finish in addition to the standard loft and lie angles.....You can order heads only or fully assembled clubs....happy to share more info if anyone is interested.

You’re thinking in the opposite direction of me on blade length. I wish they’d start making them shorter, not longer. Easier to hit shorter blades with more consistency.
@TheEquipmentJunkie
@TheEquipmentJunkie 8 ай бұрын
Fair enough! I think it’s mainly just a confidence thing for me. I also prefer to miss it toe side if anything and usually I find shorter blade lengths have me missing more heel due to CG being closer to shaft axis. What irons are you currently gaming?
@joshuahanson8543
@joshuahanson8543 8 ай бұрын
I miss toe if anything too, and I’d think like me, a smaller head would just bring it to the middle haha, plus a heel strike usually feels better than a toe banger with an iron. Mizuno MP 18 mb’s
@TheEquipmentJunkie
@TheEquipmentJunkie 8 ай бұрын
@@joshuahanson8543 I agree toe miss doesn’t feel great, but for me it’s the most predictable in terms of distance. If I toe one I know it’s coming up short. Sometimes if the CG is more heel vs. middle, and I miss heel, it can come out hot which I don’t like. MP-18’s are pure! I used to play a full set of them. I’m excited to test the new 241’s here soon! Are you considering them at all in ‘24 or sticking with the 18’s?
@joshuahanson8543
@joshuahanson8543 8 ай бұрын
Fair enough. I play a cut and a fade as my stock shot, so a hot heel shot usually still fades for me and isn’t much longer, but the toe is definitely usually short like you said. Sometimes it runs out close though. Definitely sticking with the 18’s, don’t have the budget for brand new clubs and I don’t think they could design anything better than the 18’s anyways! Haha, have fun whatever you do. 🤙

If you could get your hands on some Maltby TS-4 blades, it would be interesting to hear your review. They're a fully forged blade with a co-forged tungsten weight. Not the softest feel but very good. Incredibly forgiving. They have a significantly longer blade length than any blade I've ever seen (I think it's actually a bit too long, even) and the sole is narrow, but has a nice radius that doesn't dig. The stated bounce on the website is pretty low, but the sole plays like it has a lot more. And they're really cheap! I also play the 620 MBs in PW-7 and T150 in 6 and 5, and I get the sole digging shots with the blades every so often, as you mentioned. For me, it's usually an alarm bell that my insidious steepness is creeping in. As you know very well, the 620s will let you know exactly what's happening with your swing and strike, good or bad!

I definitely would like to mess with some Maltby stuff at some point! I've always been a fan of their designs and really hard to beat for the price point. The 620 into T150 is awesome, I just got in a set of 150's to test and they seem superb in the longer irons! That said, did you find any issues with loft/distance gapping? If you bent them at all, did you notice any odd progression in offset between the different models?
@danielcohen3159
@danielcohen3159 3 ай бұрын
@@TheEquipmentJunkie Actually, I forgot to mention that: I play TWO 7-irons: the 620 7 iron (at standard 35°) AND the T150 7-iron (bent to 31°). I didn't want to lose what little bounce there is in the 620s by strengthening them, but with the larger sole on the T150s it works great. Yardage gaps are perfect. At my, ahem "medium" speed the 620MB 7 carries 145 yards and the T150 7 is about 155, and 10-yard-gaps are about perfect for me. As far as offset, by the time we get to a 31° club I'm starting to benefit from a little offset, so it's good for my swing! Loving your channel, man. Keep it up.

I appreciate the kind words Daniel! I really like that setup and respect the thought you put into it. Playing two “7” irons isn’t something that most people would consider, but the way you have them built, it’s clear, it simply works! Did you run into any issues with the head weight being a bit heavier than a 6i? Or do you play them both at 7i length?
@danielcohen3159
@danielcohen3159 2 ай бұрын
@@TheEquipmentJunkie They're both at standard 7-iron length. I'm not particularly sensitive to head weight, so it hasn't thrown off my swing at all. I hadn't thought of that, but I may have my guy swing weight them and see where they actually are.

I was under the impression that sole width had nothing to do with the amount of bounce
@TheEquipmentJunkie
@TheEquipmentJunkie 8 ай бұрын
Sole width can make a club play with more “effective bounce”. Meaning while there may be no change to the angle (measured bounce), the width helps make the club more resistant to digging.
