I cry every time I hear it and I've heard it so many times. No other band does this for me. They simply are the best and this song is another one of their masterpieces.

The greatest blues song by the greatest band...mastery of dynamics and call and response with guitar and vocals underpinned by the greatest rhythm section and subtle jazzy keys. Jimmy shows why he is Lord of the Strings!

If you watch the film "The Song Remains the Same" there is a different and better version of this song, which was filmed on a different night of this 3 night stand at Madison Square Garden. It includes some audience reactions that hint at the atmosphere of this show. Also keep in mind that a typical Zeppelin show during this time was over 3 hours long. How Plant managed to preserve his voice is nothing short of miraculous. He still sounds amazing at 74!

This one is identical in spots, and different in others, both musically and visually. For example, the different SYOS version starts out with a different shot of Plant on the opening line, with lots of imaging, echo and reverb, and the line "people I know you don't think that's right," while this one starts out with a first shot of Plant singing from way down low below him, and "people I don't think that's right" in that same spot. Personally, I like the different SYOS version a bit better: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z814n8V52cq6fIk.html

San Diego, 1970. Led Zeppelin solo concert (multi hours long). I was a big Yardbirds fan; and loved Zep (LZ1 please) from day 1. I’m in the audience. They start off with Immigrant Song. Plant WAILS for minute after minute. You can feel the entire arena inching to the edge of our seats in thrill. Then JPJ touches the bass; the seats actually VIBRATE! and the crowd rises in unison and SCREAMS our heads off!

Just so you know, that pop up that comes in half way through the song is because the powers that be decided to make an OFFICAL video of this song 2 or 3 years ago where they chose a different, slightly inferior version of the song than the one that was the original here on you tube. I believe it was recorded a different night. I know right away that its the newer version because when Page does the solo in the beginning, you can see four of him playing and in the original you can only see 3 of him. I also think this versions opening solo is a bit shorter. But am not positive on that. Also, when Plant starts to sing, he comes in slightly earlier with no delay after the solo. In this version, the solo stops for half a beat before he starts to sing. Page's second solo is a bit different and smoother to me. And for some reason the camera spends half the time on JPJ during the solo and we have to stare at that bad wig he has on instead of watching Jimmy play. LOL. But the biggest change is the camera zooms in on the crowd a lot. You see one young lady clearly wasted, several times and after Page's second solo, the camera zooms in on a cop who is watching in awe, then onto one of the prettiest women I have ever seen. She is olive skinned with long black hair and is wearing some kind of hooded, almost monk like white robe. She is often been mistaken for Plant's wife. She at one point just shakes her head in disbelief as Plant is singing. Except for the JPJ camera thing, I feel the original version is superior to this one. Luckily I have it on dvd. :) It's almost sad that I notice the differences. LOL.

Hey,Wesley thanks ror reacting to one of my suggestions. Can't wait for Beth Hart's reactions to be honest lol.By the way,she is a big Led Zeppelin fan too.She made a tribute album to them not long time ago.And about what you said about Robert's voice, she maybe is the only one who can do it right now imo. Just watch "Am i the one" that i already suggested and from the same concert her cover of Zeppelin's "Whole lotta love". Hope everything worked out well for you with work and stuff my friend. Take care.

Sorry, in that I do this everytime someone reacts to this Zeppelin Song. But I think if even 1 of every 20 members who reads it, goes and listens to this cover. By a 15 year old girl. Who had only been playing guitar for 2 years at this point? You won't be sorry for listening. She's hella amazing & I think you'll agree. She just plays with the album, straight up but.....
