I shoot with the EOS R, my lens kit: RF 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS USM, RF 14-35mm f/4 L IS USM, AND the RF "Thrifty 50" 50mm f/1.8 STM. I really enjoy shooting around the house and out in the yardens using the Thrifty 50, it's a great lens at a great price! Love your dress, and would love to know what the tatt on your left arm says. Good review on the lenses! 💜

Good video! A fantastic, budget friendly lens for a crop sensor Canon camera, I highly recommend the Canon 24mm f/2.8 STM Pancake lens. It's very sharp and a great lens for the price point, about $150. Before I went to full frame, I carried it with me everywhere as it's tiny and lightweight, which is great when you're on a hike, long walk, etc.

Its a shame Canon isn’t allowing 3rd party lenses. I know some came out but were stopped being sold. Cuz a great bunch of budget lenses samyang makes are truly phenomenal.

Lots of people are using the EF adaptor so they can use third party lenses

Agree. So many photographers are waiting for Canon to wake up and allow brands like Sigma or Tamron to sell RF lenses. Hopefully that’ll be soon! (Older lenses adapted with the EF adapter can’t function to their maximum capacity)
@LMActionsports
@LMActionsports Жыл бұрын
@@cfsrueda9349 I started with nikon mirrorless cameras adapting lenses with the adapter. But they didn't perform as good as z lenses. Same as the new rf lenses. I tried both the a7riv and the Canon r5, and the rf lens selection at the time pushed me to sony. Been extremely happy with my choice. And now I have sigma, Tamron, Samyang, and Sony gm lenses that all work perfectly for my needs and budget. But I feel bad for the Canon users still don't have that option. Not everyone can drop 2 grand of every pro rf lens and 3rd party options are still not available after 2 years. Come on and treat your canon users right
@cfsrueda9349
@cfsrueda9349 Жыл бұрын
@@LMActionsports true that, I agree, I’m a Canon user, and I have bought some expensive lenses but yeah not everyone can afford them, and the cheap opinions for professionals arent good. Nikon and Sony are giving the costumers excellent options, and the 3rd party glass options you can find now are excellent. We’ll see what happens
@LMActionsports
@LMActionsports Жыл бұрын
@@cfsrueda9349 yeah i hope canon offers 3rd party lenses soon too. Its just like the EF lenses. A lot of the best lenses for the pros were the professional canon lenses anyways. But it still got a lot of people to use canon. By restricting them, I feel is hurting them because not everybody can afford those expensive RF lenses. Now what pisses me off with sony is the cf-express type A cards. $200 for an 80gb card, $360 for a 160gb card. Why not type B cards? Everybody else is using type B cards. So don’t feel bad that Canon is doing that to you guys because Sony is doing it in a different way to us.

The funny thing is that for the EF-S mount cameras you can also pick up a used copy of the sigma 18-35 f1.8 for about $500. This is a lot compared to the nifty 50, but it really is like 4 primes in one zoo, all at f1.8 And yes the EFM 22mm f2.0 converts my M50 into a great travel camera that you can fit into a small bag or a large pocket.

50mm on APSC is quite Tele - I own it, but end up using it rarely on my 80D. I can strongly recommend the EF 35mm 2.0 IS USM for any EF-mount APSC camera.

I love the fact I can still use my old EF lenses on my new R6 with an adaptor. That's the best budget tip :-). I don't see myself buying RF lenses as I still use my 5DIII as a back up camera

I avoided the EF-M lenses, the original kit 18-55mm one is ok as a walk-around and handy enough to take on a flight for out-of-window shots lol, [50mm was my first prime lens, though, I had the much sought-after 50mm f1.8 MK I until it died and the FD one prior to that, but I digress], and just got the adapter so EF lenses can be used across all three camera formats, I have the RF nifty 50, dunno if I love it, it is a decent enough lens, though.

Thanks for posting this! I love the cheaper 50 mm lenses! I also wanted to ask if you would recommend a 35 mm or a zoom (28-70) for event coverage (provided you already have a 50mm and 85mm)
@VanessaJoy
@VanessaJoy Жыл бұрын
The 28-70 is my most used lens and I would definitely recommend it. But it would not qualify as budget haha

I have the Eos R with the RF35mm and I love the RF35. I do not have the kit lens and i do not miss it. I am an amature and use the 35 for indoor shooting and a little macro. The RF35 does really well in low light with the EOS R.

@@VanessaJoy That's true haha! The $3000 price tag is making me think again. I'm using a Canon R6 but all my lenses are EF (with the adapter). I'm wondering if I need to splurge on a 28-70 or even a 24-70 instead of just getting a Tamron 50mm 1.4 for a fraction of the price. The zoom is definitely more versatile and I'd really love RF-L glass but the 2.8 or 2.0 aperture vs. the 1.4 also worries me due to low light performance in the absence of a flash. Most events I cover tend to be at night :/
@shadowyzman7078
@shadowyzman7078 Жыл бұрын
@@christianalbert3890 I've heard good things about the RF 35mm. The one I was looking at was the Tamron 35mm 1.4 which looks comparable to the Canon EF 35mm L but is significantly cheaper.

Well... my first canon was mentioned in this video the T7 is an awesome APSC camera... it's efficient for what it does. I'd rather have a 5D mk2.... but alas, I just got a Panasonic GH4. No, not jumping ship. I use the Panasonic for video, and the Canon for Photos... eventually I'll get a better body. But I doubt I'll ever trade it being as it was my 1st DSLR. My point is, why jump ship? If you presently have a camera that you have given a lot of love to.... just keep it!! Grab a T7 or an M50 check out if you like what you get from both of those mid-tier cameras and buy some lenses for it. I haven't had any issues using full-frame lenses on my T7. I haven't bought in to RF or M lenses because there are sooo many awesome EF lenses stretching back to the early 80s and they are still making them!!!

Canon RF aps-c, the cursed land of no lenses. No 1.4 primes no 2.8 zooms. Cannot talk about lenses here for more than 5 minutes. That"s all there is. Move to sony if you want to shoot aps C. I would recommend people just use the EF-S zooms, 10-18, 55-250, and sigma 18-35 f1.8 zoom. Then nifty 50, and that's it.

@Daniel Fazzari That's true, but to be fair there are kit lens that are zooms with fixed aperature. Ex. Canon 24-105mm f4, Sony 18-105mm f4 or Nikon 24mm-120mm f4. These are all optional lens in a kit package. Bit I do understand what you're saying. 👌🏼
