I bought a canon T7I and quickly upgraded to the R10 probably close to a year and a half ago. Bought an RF50mm and upgraded to a sigma 24-70 f2.8 also fairly quick and just recently bought a 30mm f1.4 from sigma. I’d recommend it all of it to anyone just depends what you wanna do.

Hello! I would like to develop photography and videography skills. I want to be able to capture beautiful moments with family and friends. I also want to be able to do photography, and videography as a side gig/hussle. I’m more of a buy once cry once kind of man. Could you recommend me a camera from either sony or canon that will take me far before I have to upgrade?

Well this is a very good camera for beginners. R50 would be enough or even a DLSR like 250D/SL3. But of course this would be a good choice. Just not so budget-friendly for many.

Any camera is good for portraits if it's paired with a large aperture lens. If you just want a camera under $1500, I'd recommend the Sony A6700. But then, of course, nothing beats Canon color science.

The best camera for beginners is a Sony A7 MK 1 used for about £400 including the 28-70 FE forget crop sensors

Will it be a big change if i replace the canon d1300d with the canon r10, i will add that i am intermediate and want to photograph birds, animals and sometimes landscapes and some portraits

for birds and animals the R10 is the better pick over the R or RP But i would rather go directly for the R7, so what the R10 should have been, or go full budget line with R50 (or really live with a R/RP)

Yes any camera is better than a phone. Think about it. Your supper small 1cm lens ( yes has like 64MP) but its not really 64MP like a real camera. If your very small sensor was the same or better than a real camera. Why wouldn't the make cameras smaller. So Yes a Camera is better than a phone.

So specific. Think it's more based on the lens than the camera. You would want a F1.4 or F1.8. Unless you are looking for which cameras high ISO looks best.

does anyone have any recommendations for a cheaper but good quality camera? I mostly take nature pics, i live in washington (marsh. Lotssss of marsh). But also hiking in the mountains. If any features seem especially good for those sceneries of if i’m just being dumb lol.

Canon R50 and R100 weren’t out when I made this video but they’re both good options. If you need cheaper than those, I’d recommend trying your luck with an older DSLR on the used market

Depends… on most cameras there’s a recording limit of 30min even though your SD card still has plenty of storage. They usually do it for overheating purposes.

Spending less than this (i.e Canon Rebel T5) will give you results comparable to most fairly recent smartphones. If at least $800 is out of the budget, I just recommend people use whatever phone they have.

I would rather recommend the EOS RP, R7, R50, R8, R6 (Mk1 and 2) Ofc every with its downsides you either can live with or not. I personally had the EOS RP for over 2 years, but as much i LOVED this camera for basic photography, adapting old and affordable EF Full Frame glass, Astrophotography,.... as i got into wildlife and video it just had to go since it cant do animal eye autofocus, its slow in bursts (3-4 fps) plus it cant do any slowmo video at all. I was also shortly looking at the R10 (and R7), but R10 was "too bad" especially for its price and R7 was okish, but even more overpriced in my opinion. Still i got soon later the R7 instead of the R10 - just the better pick if you want to keep the camera for longer, the R10 would have felt outdated to me in the beginning already.

Too expensive Only if you can profit from the APS-C sensor and more features you should look for the R10. I would recommend a 2nd hand EOS RP and adapting EF glass!
