I bought this for £159 (~$200) off amazon (without a head) . The quality it so much better than I was expecting for the price. Even though the poles are thick (lending to extra sturdiness) , it still compacts down more than some thinner tripods because it doesn't have the extendable central column. The reason I bought this one is because I hated the central column on my old tripod, it would just become unstable as soon as you raised it up. With this it's stable at any height. I love it. I can't believe it's under $200, it feels like a $500+ piece of equipment. I know some people like the extendable central column for getting low to the ground, but I've had no trouble getting low with this. Maybe if you want put your camera low down above a river for a slow exposure shot or something the extendable column is useful, but other than that I'm struggling to see the benefit. This is perfect for real world use.

It sounds like you are having an awesome experience with your tripod and I am really glad that it is working out for you! Everyone has different reasons for using the tripod they use in the field and only the experience that someone has over and over again determines whether or not they love or hate their tripod. Great discovery. A little late for me, I have gone to the Platypod extreme for getting the unique angles it allows me to get.

It’s great that you are promoting a quality tripod. I cringe when I see someone with her 500 mm lens and handholding.😢 just to the cool!

For pin sharp landscape photography, it’s good to have a sturdy tripod for sure. Although, I can see handholding a 500 mm lens for bird photography.

Great Review thank you! I am looking to maybe getting the AS70C right now since I dont need it that big. Only thing I am unsure about is, since I am also want to use it sometimes at the beach or at a lake how it handels water, Saltwater in perticular.

Thanks so much for the comment. Totally understand, but getting the shots you want have may have to be in spaces and places that are going to test our gear. So, that being said I would get the tripod you want and expect it to get battle worn. I will also say that every time I dip my tripod in the ocean, I come home and clean it immediately and thoroughly.

Oh buddy...i can agree this is the best value out there. I've been eyeballing this tripod for years. I ended up getting an FLM as I was 1 lbs lighter but cost 2x as much. But it's in and out of my Amazon cart every couple months...enjoy it man.

I saw that FLM tripod on Nick Page’s channel a while back, nice! What’s great is that the ball head matches the tripod quality!

Get the FLM - it always tests high in stability. Stability is important. A cheaper tripod will not get the results in long exposures or windy conditions. What is another $100 amortised over ten years?
