My mom loved her Honda. No. Really. My mom? She friggin’ LOVED her Honda. I was a kid in the 80s, and have these great memories of my mom in her 30s, zipping around in her little black Accord. Sunroof open, radio going. Her car was a stick, and I remember the sound her bracelets made as she shifted. She looked so cool and beautiful to me. My mom was IT! 😁 She drove that car for well over a decade before buying herself a BMW -a dream that became an accomplishment. At that point, she garaged the Honda, and from there it took her several years to finally part with it. Yep. Honda. Great car.

Ivew been driving Subaru outbacks for about 15 years. My current one is an 04 with around 300,000 kms . cost me $3500 cdn a few years ago. AWD sun roof pwr seats etc. I love them!

You didn't mention the most reliable vehicle ever built which is 2007-2008 Honda Fit. You won't find anything else more reliable

How many miles on a used car is still considered reliable? What is the range you consider when looking for a good used car?

It depends on the car. Brands like Toyota, which have an outstanding overall reputation for reliability, can manage 200,000 miles and still last a very long time if well maintained. Others can be very problematic after only 100,000 miles. Generally speaking though, around 100,000 miles or 150,000km is the approximate threshold at which many cars begin to require regular repairs.

Small bit of advice since you seem new to all this: pay the $75-$150 to take a used car to a mechanic to inspect before purchase. Mechanics aren't soothsayers, so they won't catch every possible thing wrong with a car, but in my experience they can identify things which may add up soon or simply tell you that they see a lot of XYZ engines in the shop and to be wary. It sucks to have to cancel a deal, but let me assure you that it beats the alternative of buying a money pit. Best of luck to you!

If a car has 200,000 miles on it, Buy it. Don't miss a beat. If it could get to 200000 and still live to tell the tale; that's gotta be reliable to make it that far. Don't let it slip through the fingers.

Best used car - 1997-2002 Toyota Camry - they are all over the place. Mine has 385,000 with no issues. You can't kill the car.

If you want a reliable Japanese car that's fun to drive and not too old, good on gas and low on repair and insurance premiums, than do what I did last year and get a 5-door Mazda-3 Hatchback, 2010 / 2011 / 2012 model year, You can easily find one for under 5K, even a non hatch is fine, Those cars are great with powerful engine and comfy interior. The only car I would stay clear from on your list is the Caravan.

2013 and older Mazda is mechanically Ford. They share too many components with ford. Absolutely horrible cars compared to Honda and Toyota. 2014 and up Mazda is realible

No I would not recommend Volkswagen. Very expensive to maintain and repair and they have average to below average reliability. I'd say not worth the hassle.

You forgot to mention the vehicle the Sabres 2000 to 2005 with a 3806 I think it’s the best car in the road and you can find them especially older people that had them and didn’t put many miles on them and you can get them fairly reasonable sometimes as much as $2500-$3000

They tend to be fairly problematic in many areas. I would only consider one if it is extremely cheap AND a mechanic gives it a full pass on a pre-purchase inspection.

Four things are very important for delivery driving. Reliability, ease of parking, cheap price and cheap to maintain and good fuel economy. These cars meet all the criteria. 2007-2008 Honda fit 2003-2005 Toyota echo 2006-2010 Toyota Yaris 2011-2014 Scion IQ ( scion is Toyota)

The 2011 and newer Hyundai's develop a ticking sound, which is piston slap. The engines only last about 15,000 miles after that. The tick can develop at any mileage. Even though they look sweet, it is recommended to walk away from them.

I would only consider it if it has the 1.8L engine and passes an inspection by a mechanic. The other engine is a 1.4L turbo which is known to be problematic.

If a mechanic inspects it and gives it a pass, you should be okay. The Corolla is a very durable and economical car so it is a safe choice. Just make sure to get that pre-purchase mechanic inspection.

Obviously a Sienna or Odyssey are much better, but they aren't too bad for a small budget. As mentioned, for $5k, a Caravan with 100k is probably safer than a Sienna with 300k.
