So you are looking for the cheapest new CPU you can find for gaming - you look at AMD’s options well the Ryzen 3100 doesn’t seem to exist, nor the 3300X, you can’t buy the 4th gen APUs and even a 2200G is £135 right now. You could get a 1600 AF for £137, but that’s still pretty high and technically a generation or two old. So, team blue. Intel’s i3 10100 and 10100F can be had for at-or-around £100, offers 4 cores and 8 threads, and boost up to 4.3GHz. So seems like your best option, right? Well, Intel’s i5 10400F can be had for £135 and with that you get 6 cores and 12 threads, and the same 4.3GHz boost clocks. So, what do you buy? Well, lets test them out and see.

@PugnalatoRottit will, i3 10100 is good for csgo because it's a cpu intensive game on 1920x1080p all low you can easily have over 300 fps and lower resolutution even 350+ on mm.

with a 1660S and 16GB RAM, the 13 10100 lets me play everything out today, with the newest gen games needed a bit of a graphics reduction to reach stable framerates but that doesn't mean they look bad it just means that visually games are capped at about 2018 for me, which is still gorgeous!

Right? I got one with a 1660ti. I upgraded from a 2600k. It's interesting how they're both 4c 8t but my CPU usage is down by one third. And I added 16 more gb for a total of 32. I'm planning on upgrading to a 10900. And yes you can run faster ram with the right board. Mine is running 3200 mhz. In a b560 m pro vdh. It's a good little build since my old one died. Couldn't if ore the $90 price lol.

I got the newer i3 10105f which is same price but .1 ghz faster so practically same, and it runs every game I play perfectly fine

Rocket Lake 11th Gen i5/i7 xe graphics. If its equal to GT1030 stop gap for low, med 1080p on some games till dedicated market goes resets.

Where I live there is less than $50 between the i3 and the i5 with integrated graphics. Get the i5 with the integrated graphics because of the video card situation now. Integrated graphics is far better than nothing if your video card suddenly dies.

Am I the first one here? Wow....what a site to behold. On a more serious note the box cooler isn't as bad as people make it sound. If we are talking about a budget build it is a great cooler that comes with your processor. I would hate to see these removed and the cost staying the same down the road.

Unfortunately I was unable to get a ryzen processor due to them being sold out but I couldn't resist the specs that the i3 had for its price. Although its not on par with the ryzen 3 I do feel like its close in some comparison. Correct me if im wrong but the i3 10100 is a great entry level processor and I do admire intel for taking the right direction with there upcoming cpus.

When I first got into PC building about 5 years ago, dual core i3's were the low budget option. I'm glad AMD put pressure on Intel and forced a big reduction in price-to-performance because the dual core i got back then went for the same price as these quad cores go nowadays. Quad cores quickly became seen as not enough because of the rapid speed in which things changed but modern quad cores are still super good for gaming PC's. I dont even know why they are called "entry level" by many people, they can maintain 60fps+ in the vast majority of games... thats not entry level lol entry level to me means you might have to cap some games at 30fps hahaha

quad cores are enough, but if you needed a little more performance, Intel did make 6 cores but they were only available on extreme platforms. your not likely to ever see the need for 8 cores in gaming, most developers even now don't use more than 4 cores in gaming.

Thank you for this video! Maybe look at real-world performance of a range of cheap NEW CPUs paired with OLDER GPUs! I like the dynamic and would think it useful for the eSport gamers on a budget...

I got a z590 mobo for just 68 euro and would've wanted to see the difference with lets say 3600Mhz DDR4 kit. I'm thinking of cheaping out and get the i3 10105f just because it's like 89 euro where I live and then get the cheapest DDR4 kit that can clock to 3600Mhz. It's not that I can't afford anything better, but more like the fun of getting the best possible relevant performance you can get as cheap as possible. :p

the 10100 is the value king, scores a bit less than a r5 3600 in games in some case, scores higher in others

It is the board itself that wont make the cpus run at faster then the 2666/2933 mhz, not the cpus. The non k skus will fly on a z-board. was the i5 also tested on that h board?

I have a 10100 filling a hole in an MSI z490i meg motherboard. I do have the 3200 xmp profile enabled with no issue, so not certain what the issue with yours is (it's just not an issue with the i3). I haven't done any testing so I can't offer any advice. This little itx case is waiting for an 11700k (when available). Just for kicks, I also bought a G5900. If you want to see what 10th gen in super slow motion really looks like, pop that in your motherboard.

z series mobo can overclock ram speed.but very much expensive. mostly not worth using combo with 10100

@@eliasnurmohamadseperah9013 Haha, I didn't buy that motherboard for a 10100, that would be overkill. It was meant for a 10900K, but I wasn't happy with thermals, so I put it together with an ATX motherboard with a better case.

So I'm planning to build "internet cafe-spec PC" with *Core i3-10105F* (same price as 10100 😁). I have GTX 1050 2GB, a stick of 8GB DDR4-3200 RAM and a 1TB NVMe WD Black SSD given away to me. So I need a CPU, mainboard and PSU. Which mainboard offers the best value for my money? I don't want to spend on a mainboard with unnecessary features.

A great review! I was almost ready to go with the Pentium Gold G6405 but the i3 10100 specs were too good to pass up. And the slight cost difference made the i3 the go to for a budget system. And Your thoughts pretty well mirror my conclusions.

5900x is a 12 c 16 t CPU. Did you use a 5600x or 5900x CPU?

look at the price of *i3-10100* !! get *70-100+fps at 1080p Ultra set on any Modern titles* isn't it Why would I buy * 5900x or 12900k* at 6 times the cost & just for 20-30% more power !!!
