Just out of curiosity, would it hold the weight better if the triangle was below, supporting the weight by a push, as opposed to the way it is with the triangle supporting the weight by pulling from above?

Good question! The way it’s built, the diagonal is in tension and the horizontal is in compression. This means the weight is creating a moment, pushing the “force” into the wall. If you put the diagonal underneath, it will now experience a moment that PULLS from the wall because the horizontal board goes from compression to tension. This would then put way more force through the diagonal board.

A lot of this has to do with the fact that the wheel is touching both the wall and the forward “strap” board.
