A real hazard is rust particles dropping into your eye. They tend to STICK to the cornea and can be difficult to wash out. Protective glasses advised

I've been in the automotive field my whole life my father taught me when I was very young if you're going to hook something up tighten it immediately do not walk away from it no matter what, so whenever I start something I finish it I don't walk away that leaves room to make a mistake

LS engines are unfortunately affordable for us, and allow us to have a small amount of skin in the game. It’s like adopting an old dog. We adopt the used and forgotten LS engines at the latter end of their lives from our local yard for $75.

When you are putting the axle back on do you need to use a torque wrench ?

@tannerl5607 I did not use new bolts, I believe it was 148 ft/lbs

The axle flange bolts are I think closer to 50 ft lbs, the wheel hub nut is the one that needs to be tightened to 148 ft lbs. Just clarifying for anybody who might be reading this in the future

Honestly, not a huge pain from a physical parts standpoint. Wiring harness & ECU + tuning is the pain point. In that regard, it’s hard not to miss the carbureted SBC

I have a '17 TA 5.7, stock exhaust, stock mufflers replaced with outlaws, kept the rear resonaters, way louder than this Scat...

A few years back.. I used the fabbot kit and an lr4 4.8l in my 92 d21 scsb. The trans mount lined up with the Nissan cross member and put the cyl heads about 3/4 in from the firewall, all I had to make was motor mounts and exhaust

Just out of curiosity, would it hold the weight better if the triangle was below, supporting the weight by a push, as opposed to the way it is with the triangle supporting the weight by pulling from above?

Good question! The way it’s built, the diagonal is in tension and the horizontal is in compression. This means the weight is creating a moment, pushing the “force” into the wall. If you put the diagonal underneath, it will now experience a moment that PULLS from the wall because the horizontal board goes from compression to tension. This would then put way more force through the diagonal board.

A lot of this has to do with the fact that the wheel is touching both the wall and the forward “strap” board.

How did you get the car to pass. I have the identical car. I did the rawtek delete with the Revzilla tune and I just failed inspection due to monitor readiness….. I have put about 800 miles on the car since replacing the EGT sensor and clearing the codes, the monitors should be more then ready lol
