That Blues OD is incredible. Thanks. Will definitely be playing through that one a lot. I like the Timmy pedals a lot. Been into the SD9 too

Pleasant post! The plethora of Plexi’s can be perplexing as a drive but popular too.

Beautiful composition, melodic chording. I find it very hard to glean useful info from a tone demo lacking actual music. You knocked that out of the park. Thanks for this.

Just a bit of history, most likely the Boss OD-1 was the 1st pedal actually labelled an OVERDRIVE. I was around and playing since 69, so before this 1977 pedal, we either had a FUZZ or a Distortion pedal, I would assume when the phrase OVERDRIVE came into Vogue, would be when this pedal came out. Or it may have been bandied about when talking about a TubeScreamer. I Do not even remember calling the terminology OVER DRIVEN back then. I wonder when the TERM EDGE of BREAKUP came into Vogue/USE. I believe we just called it Amplifier Distortion level back then. Amazing these terms that did not even exist, til at least the end of the 70's. Nice DEMO by the way by JOHN CORDY, modeller expert that he is.

What distortion pedals were around in the mid-70s? I had a Big Muff back then and I don't recall any options other than Fuzz or Fuzz like things. I also had a Roland Bee-ba which I thought was crap at the time but I wish I kept it because of its current value.

@@frankfrank7921 I would do a search on internet for exact information. MXR super distortion or distortion + comes to mind, I had a Vox combo wah, and Fuzz pedal, there were a couple cheap Japan or european ones, NUFUZZ, which was another combo, the big muff was around early in 70's. Electro Harmonix stuff was the ones we used the most , easy availablity, the LPB-1 was labeled as a treble boost, it was seriously a small preamp, at least that was what a electronics buddy of mine called it. Since I did not use them much the internet would be best info. or send a notice to Josh at JHS pedals he would know. Ampeg Dan armstrong had some stuff out back then. That is about it. When mxr released the phase 90, was when the Rolling Stones It's only Rock and Roll came out, That I do remember. There was not much there in them days, today it is ALL over the Place. Hope this helps.

@@frankfrank7921 If I had to bet on it, the Boss odr1 would be the 1st one, it came out in I think 77, Tubescreamers were out then by Maxon/Ibanez, but those did not have the label Distortion on them, we never used the overdrive terminology til pedals labeled it that. We called it Fuzz, usually. I do not know when this term EDGE of BREAKUP started either. That would be a Good one to look up. We knew how to use it, just did not have a name for it, from what I remember. CAGED did not exist as a Terminology either til late 80's.

@@frankfrank7921 Frank I just checked JHS pedals videos, he has a couple that talk about and gives at least approx. history of pedals. The overdrive one is: Understand the types of Overdrive pedals on the market. Technically the tubescreamer places in the overdrive section but I never remember any marketing for it in the 70's as an overdrive, the marketing on that would have maybe come after the Od1 came out. Early in josh's video he mentions the MXR distortion plus, and the approx year it came out. What i need to look up is the Edge of Breakup terminology, and also when the Gain stages terms came from, I think alot of run of the mill terms today were just a evolution as we went along, amazing how RUN of the Mill Vernacular comes about. Alot of those terms had to originate from I would guess amplifier builders, i would point to Mesa Boogie being one of the 1st boutique MASS marketed for some of those, and maybe Howard Dumble and Trainwrecks ken fhisher, but they were not MASS makers like Mesa WAS/IS, and now owned by Gibson, we shall see how that one Goes.

@@ksharpe10Of course we didn't call them "boutique" back then. Mesa was just the new kid on the block back then.

Did I hear Teenage Wasteland?? For me the sd1 sonic D, sounds like something I would like very much, that singy tone is quite nice.

Okay so what people have said is true, Fractal has great reverbs and honestly pretty mediocre drive sounds. What a shame!
