The Best FC3S Electric Fan Conversion | Ep 15

In this episode I mount up the best FC3S electric fan conversion you could probably find. The fan is from a 1997 Nissan Quest (minivan), also built as a Mercury Villager. You could get these from years 1993-1998 I believe. I found this information from rx7club (see link below). If you have any questions about how I mount this fan please feel free to ask. I have yet to wire the fan in, but I'll be using one of the old stock relays and following Banzai racing's how-to guide (also linked below).

i think i read up on the writeup on rxclub and someone else also used an old ford taurus fan, Lovin the up to date videos though! moar!

Ike Salonga you're correct. The old ford taurus fan is also another good option but the shrouding does not match up as well if I remember correctly and I think this fan is a bit larger. this is all off the top of my head right now, but I'm sure google could give the specifics lol. and thanks for watching! can't wait to show you guys when it's running!

Good job. I have the v8 taurus fan on my s5 vert using the godspeed radiator. Here is a link to the best switch to run the fan which my builder recommended me to buy and it has never given me an issue. Has been running great for the past 2 years. Car can run without oil and still not overheat (i havent test that lol). But remember to get the v8 taurus alternator to power it all. Rx7 club has the write up. The s5 alternator will not be strong enough.

Libra Sagi thanks for the tip! Some guys have said their s5 alternators work with this fan, but I'm going to do some voltage testing to see how strong it is. This fan has a low and high setting. But combined with the koyo I don't think I'll ever need to use the high setting. We shall see. Point being, the current draw shouldn't be as bad on the low setting. I'll make a follow up video when I get the fan wired in and the motor running so I can test it properly. 😀

sounds good and no problem. Its fun watching the build. My taurus fan also has a high and low setting and i always keep it on low because its super strong and it can work with the s5 alternator but its just annoying seeing the lights dim everytime you hit the brakes. Also there is a bit of a surge when the fan turns on so it drops the rpms a couple hundred so the bigger alt helps. I got mine off of ebay for 50 bucks lol 130amps and works like a charm.
