I plant that and hay grazer and bluestem and Lespedeza and I have it in my hay Field and my pasture for my cows lespedeza if gets to tall gets tough for cows to eat

It did great starting coming up last summer then we got hit with the drought & no rain. So it fizzled out. We bought 2 bags and going to throw out with it this year. I bet it comes up good this time. We have had some good rains on it. Thanks for watching we appreciate it.

Yes we have a couple of Au Grazer pastures we are trying to develop. It is some good grazing and we hope to bale it one day. Thanks for watching

Wow!! Great video on how to utilize your land better. What’s the difference in the AU and the native Sericia Lesbadeza. I’ve got gobs of the native and my goats don’t seem to prefer it. I may have to introduce some Bois D Arc genetics so they will😂😂

This AU grazer is like a alfalfa it has 16% protein in the leaves. I know there is many different types of Lespedeza and this on is more geared for gots and cattle. Thanks for watching

Yes it was but we knew it was late when we planted it but we gave it a shot. We got some for this year and we are about to get it in the ground.

We spray Every single year all our fields for sericea here in missouri and Kansas. We have found it is terrible for hay. When cattle eat the pick all the grass hay out and leave the Lespedeza. It’s too woody/stemy once it reaches a certain point. It is extremely invasive, chokes our better grasses and clovers. The cattle won’t touch it once it gets over a foot and a half tall. May work good for goats.

Yea I have heard it a noxious weed up north. We planted it in certain pastures to hope to control it. We planted the AU Grazer sercia Lespedeza & the goats seem to like it. Thanks for watching

You are correct. It is a noxious plant. Not got for grazing or hay. It has a woody stem. It’s good for rabbits to hide in. About it! Now your Korean Lespedeza is great for hay or pasture. It will provide pasture in the summer when the grass stops growing.

How long do you leave the herd on a lespedeza pasture? Does it come back in the same season so you could rotate more than once a year?

I put them on it for a few days then let it rest a couple of weeks the graze it again. Yes it grows back pretty quick.

Question from an obviously totally unknowing gal... 1.) How long does it take to germinate and begin to grow the lespedeza? 2.) Must I plant all the different seed at once? Or, can I do different one each month as I get the funds? 3.) Can I use a basic seed spreader like I would for seedin a lawn in lieu of a hopper which I dont own? If so, what setting would be fair to not over or u der spread spread that tiny seed? Your pasture looks like a dream. And I would like to hope for a dream in our little field. Thank you for being a school master for us.

Took about 3 weeks to see some coming up. We had very little rain on it too.

@@BoisDArcKikos gosh that was a fast response thank you. Are there insect issues with lespedeza? Our little pasture has a ton of grasshoppers chickens would love but not fenced for them yet. I hope to get a good mix going with the lespedeza to share for the goats and chickens.

Your welcome. We haven’t had any issues with insects. Once it’s established it’s pretty easy to come up and reseed itself.

While I'm glad goats will eat it but Sericea is considered an invasive species in Missouri, you'll have no trouble getting it to takeover your pastures. Trying to keep it from taking over all of the pastures will be a problem. I'm going to look into whether or not I can run some goats on our property that is in CRP to hopefully eat some of the sericea lespedeza. mdc.mo.gov/trees-plants/invasive-plants/sericea-lespedeza-control

We are hoping to control it to a select pasture. I think it has a hard time growing in our blackland. Our goats love it. Thanks for watching
