This is super cool! I think most people get scared of doing Custodes because of the detail, but yeah they're not that hard honestly! And showing how to do it faster is pretty awesome!! Sweet and useful vid!

Part of why those reds are either too orangey or too pinky is that the Army Painter's "pure red" is not really all that red compared to basically any other manufacturer's red. They focused on coverage with white pigment, instead of, say, what GW does to Mephiston. I am all for channels going heavy with a manufacturer, and most of those Fanatic paints work very well, but that "pure red" and that basilisk red, just like Pallid chalk flesh from GW, are great examples of why we should consider multiple manufacturers in our paint collection, instead of giant, single manufacturer sets.

Amazing video Peachy. It was hard to choose a favorite, but the purple and gold is the winner for me.

Drybrushing a power axe? You absolute madlad. Wonderful work, I've never been a huge fan of the alternate schemes but these all look great. Might have to steal that Shadowkeepers drybrushing scheme for easy CSM armour...

Thanks Peachy for the great video! You're the reason I started collecting custodes and painting them (classical Gold/Red shield host, can't go wrong with vanilla) I had a few thoughts while watching the video. My first thought was "What could a painter who's new to the hobby learn here, and what's missing?" 1) it's a good idea to state which base coats you use for which colour scheme, for instance on the Aquilan shield you have a gold base coat - which gold? Custodian painters usually go pretty nuts with different gold recipes (with varying results) 2) It would help tremendously you could either link to or perhaps leave a few suggestions for different paints from other manufacturers that could be used. ArmyPainter paints are generally quite/very good IMHO (I love their speedpaints 2.0 for example), but many use Citadel colours for instance. While experienced painters will use whatever they feel like or even mix/match - new painters will look very closely at what you choose and try to replicate your result(s). You, as an experienced painter, leaving a few suggestions for similar/or other solid recommendations would help them immensely. :) 3) A tutorial on how to make gemstones in a different way would be really cool. For instance with Technical colours like Soulstone blue + silver base coat, or with layers/glazing/varnish-combos. Just an idea, it's neat to show them side by side and see the different effects. Anyways, love the videos mate, keep 'em coming! :) Also do you have a discord server for your channel? If not - you should consider getting one to start building your community, and people can easily find your YT-channel that way too. The Warhammer community in general is very online-oriented after all.

Awesome video mate. I love that Diabolic Plum paint (though there now really needs to be a "lovely Peachy" paint as well now!) Loved all of these schemes and yeah Custodes could be a nice army project as the lower model count means their a bit more storage and space friendly if that's a concern - I am kinda tempted by them now - though I am really thinking what a home brew force of them would look like if they were all battered and grimy - possibly using some of the techniques from your Fallout video? Be a bit different. And you're damn right every model is an Necromunda model! Maybe they're there because Karloth Valois has come back (I think that was his name any way - the dude in original Necromunda who was basically a necromancer and had an army of plague zombies - and his model was wicked cool and very extra!)

The entire Legio Custodes had one job during the Heresy, to keep the Emperor alive. So I don't think the Solar Watch have to worry about any threats that make it to Terra, they seem to have fantastic job security.

I wondered why the head was so wobbly. Liked the optional head! Looks great. A tiny head makes the whole Custodes super bulky and imposing.

I would be super curious for your take on Imperial Fists using the new Fanatic paints. Everything I see nowadays is contrast, which is a nightmare if you have to correct a mistake.

I have a bit of a dumb question but let's say I've been eyeballing these big glorious bastards (and the sisters of silence) as my first tiptoe into warhammer. Do people have different factions or regiments in the same army? I understand it's my money, my army, my decision, but am I going to look like a weirdo going to my game store and having some traditional gold boys and some of those darker versions as well as some of those purple boys? I understand you wouldn't mix and match some of the others (such as Ultramarines mixed Salamanders mixed with blood angels) but since these are all Custodes does it matter?

Peachy was in the Underhive to meet a notorious gang of Corpsegrinders regularly involved in assault, cannibalism, and worse. He was put in a difficult position. Peachy didn't want to show disrespect, but on the other hand, he didn't want to worship the Lord of Skin and Sinew. The Aquilan Shield could tell things were about to kick off, so they got Peachy out of there FAST. #peachyongangs

A demon from the palace of Terra escaped to Necromunda in the body of an incautios tech priest. This happened because of the Shadowkeeper fault, so she has to repent for her mistakes. Too bad that the possessed tech priest is protected by an Aquilian Shield custodes because he knows how an ancillary system of the Golden throne works. Honor and duty forbids the two custodes to compromise, which leads to an epic custodes-vs-custodes battle for the shattering body of the tech priest in one of Necromunda's power reactors.
