Scrambling up Hopgill Beck & Rowantreethwaite Ghyll with Clare. These scrambles start alongside Haweswater in Mardale & are amongst the easiest accessed routes in The Lakes.
As with all ghylls they are best climbed in dry spells when there is less water in the streams. It's easier and less dangerous. When the rocks are slippery old socks over your boots can help: this is down to personal preference - try it out before you use them in anger.
