2:11 you could loop a chain over the end so it holds down the lighter end and forces the heavy end up. That way you don’t have to readjust.

I like the set up but another axle should be used for that kind of weight. Installing v type rails on bottom would keep the centre of gravity lower but i can see how it works. You from a LPG background? Don't worry about the negative types putting a opinion over on possible improvements is what you asked for, good job.

Great idea converting an propane tank hauler into a log transport. I'd seriously get another axle under there as the tank transports are only meant to carry fairly light (by comparison) empty tanks for placement at the site. You made me a little nervous stepping inside of that rig to adjust the chain. That there is gambling with your life.

Nice trailer. I'm not sure if I would consider that "no special equipment" though. Handling logs like that takes special equipment no matter how you slice that pie. I would recommend moving the winch up to the overhead beam and getting a wireless switch. It would eliminate the cable in the way on the front of the trailer and halve the force on the beam (roughly). Otherwise great idea and inspiration!

I think he is using 6 lug implement hubs and implement tires. They build these hubs in a 10k rating, and that is for each hub. I dont know how heavy a rating you can get with the tires. I am not saying for sure thats what they are but the 10k hubs are out there. The implement hubs and tires are for a low speed application.

Dear Second Life: Perhaps you have Nine Lives and have a few to throw around, unfortunately most of us only have one and a fragile one at that. Your rig is very cool however watching you step inside the perimeter of the trailer frame to adjust the sling chain position made me wince. Had that log shifted at that moment you would have been pinned and sustained severe crush injuries which could have impacted you for the rest of your life; or worse. Hold your life and health a little more dear. As well the possibility of mechanical failure would again make me want to be very cautious around this or any heavy lift machine. Manually deployed outriggers would as well give you significant improvement of stability. Good luck! Great rig! Love the ingenuity and thanks for sharing.

@@SlabGuy I've been researching log arches for modifying a trailer to do exactly this. I really like your trailer. The only down side that I can see is with smaller logs it will carry less but it also cary one really large one much easier than loading with an arch. Availability plays a factor and if I could find something like you have i would probably jump on it. Otherwise I'll probably have to go with a flat bed and arch. Good work.

I like the idea but at 3.50 mark on your video is the reason I think I'll pass on this design messing around under suspended loads is a huge no no for me maybe a reaching tool to hook into your cross member so you don't have to risk your life to a weld not snapping or a chain or hook failure winch malfunction sudden blown tire causing load to shift something like that doesn't even have to fall to seriously mess you up please be careful and come up with a solution to more safely load your logs

No way would l ever tow that on a public road. Good for on a farm, with some more thought to make it more safer to use, as l can pick so many deficiencies into the lack of safety aspects. Good luck with it. The basic concept is good, but lacking in safety, big time.
