The best longest XC descent at Mammoth Mountain Bike Park

It had been a while since I was at Mammoth Mountain Bike Park. I was glad to be back finally.
But because I'm training for the Swiss Epic and need some significant elevation rides at altitude, I brought with me the cross-country bike to more comfortably climb up and ride down all day.
And then since the trail access ticket is the same whether or not you take the lifts, I decided to add a bonus lap via the gondola once my legs were done. So I coasted down the best longest descent I know: Off The Top, to Gravy Train, to Brake through, to Downtown, to Shotgun.

Wow, I didn't think I was into bike parks until I saw this trail. This trail is mostly all natural, and so long with few people on it. I'm more into exploring and enjoying my surroundings (cross country), and this is perfect for me. This is a nice long ride in the woods. I guess Mammoth really has something for everyone. I might go there this weekend.

Totally! And when starting early (btw the bagel place opens at 6am), you can get a long quiet ride before the gondola even starts running (9am). And then heading toward Eagle lodge it's always peaceful there.

been good to see your videos again i seem to have lost track of you after you finished an XC season and said you didn't know if you would keep going, cant remember how long ago that was. also isn't this the bike park that made up of that pea gravel stuff ?

Thanks, Jowen. That's true. I haven't uploaded as much and haven't done a live stream in a while. But as racing is back in full force this year, there'll be more content coming; there's already an overflowing backlog of videos I want to edit. Also, Google keeps changing its feed algorithm, so the best way to track uploads is either with the bell notification or following my blog at thebikecomesfirst.tumblr.com. And yes, that's the mountain with volcanic kitty litter dirt 😁

great video! Thank you so much for posting grade and speed. Hard to tell what trails are really like sometimes the gopro effect can make trails look way easier than they actually are.

The scratches will move higher as the tree grows. We’ll be able to tell which years had the most crashes hehe

From my experience the gondola can have a 5-10 min wait while the other chairs have no wait

Yes, I did exactly that the very next morning 😆. (Disclaimer: the top section we’re not allowed to climb when the gondola is running, so gotta go very early)
