EDIT: Yards PLXC is in stock RIGHT NOW, it's going to be gone ASAP. Sorry for the delay. This video is over 3mo old. FYI: I'm still using this scope now (along side the scope switch). I'm really thinking that this lpvo with the mil reticle will suit me well on my ak103. It's light weight, has a good 1x and really just checks all the boxes im looking for in my first lpvo. As a PLXc enjoyer, I’m looking forward to watching this on my break. Nothing like a bit of purchase validation as a treat. Edit: I’ve watched it. I agree on all points. The reticle and illumination is the only thing keeping this thing from perfection. If it had the FCDMX reticle and the illumination of a Nightforce, it would be 10/10. That said, the reticle is still totally usable and I was able to get very consistent hits at 380m with my 14.5”.

Great vid Brass Facts! I had the griffin mil version of the PLxC 1-8. I liked it, but returned it because I was losing illumination on recoil (SR-15 Upper). Simple defect I assume. When I had it, I compared it to my buddy's Vortex Razor 1-6SFP Gen II-e and the Vortex was more comfortable to get behind and more usable for me. As C_DOES and BF have mentioned the slight difference between the scope focus at 1 vs 8 power bothered me enough to look for other options. This was my first LPVO to provide some context, but I figured I would put this comment up here. Overall its a cool scope (weight & price) but I wasn't in love with it. PA customer service was awesome and I look forward to getting more products from them.

I think one of the reasons that LPVOs are so ideal on a 5.56 AR is that the ideal range for a 1-8 LPVOs is 25-600 yards. (Really more 50 yards on the low but who cares) this also lines up really well 5.56 ballistically where 25-500 is going to be relatively flat shooting and still have enough energy on target. You can push it to 700 with the rounds and a 1-8 but it's going to struggle.

@shaolinwarriormark @1100 yards 77gr 5.56 has ~150ft/lbs of energy and ~60 MOA rise, just because you can punch paper at those ranges doesn't mean that it's effective for combat. For context, at that range, 77gr 5.56 is slower than .22lr at point blank with only ~20 more ft/lbs of energy.

100 % right . Plx c with the M8 raptor is the best. I was saying a year ago. The complex M8 reticle is the only reason why I would use an lpvo. If I wanted something simple, I would just stay with the Red Dot with the 6X magnifier. In that case I can remove the magnifier at night for a lighter gun. If I'm going to carry a pound and a half on top of the gun, it better have a complex reticle that gives me lots of information.

Good stuff. I think the weak illumination deserves a mention in context of 1x performance. Like you point out in the beginning, folks want LPVOs to function as an 'almost red dot' on 1x. The reticle features that help draw your eye to the center are useful, but a super bright dot is useful-er. I had a NX8 for a while and couldn't get over some of its flaws, but really appreciated the brightness of the reticle. I'm not a huge Vortex fan, but the Razors shine in the brightness feature, which is a huge plus at 1x. In this price bracket, I think I'd still opt for a Gen 2-e over the PLXC for the 1x performance + brightness. The weight savings and extra 2x are big pluses for the PA, but I can get over an LPVO being SFP as I'm typically gonna crank up to max mag on an LPVO if I'm shooting far enough to need hold data.

That giant chevron (and chevrons in general) just ruin it for me. It blocks so much of your sight picture when trying to shoot in the 200-300 yard/meter range with wind. But I do appreciate that PA finally added tall crosshairs that help you find the center on 1x without illumination.

For an lpvo, I prefer sfp. I do really like my razor gen 2-e. If they could put a better reticle in there with the same illumination and then magically knock it down to 15-18 oz, that would be as close to perfect as an lpvo can get.

I have the predecessor 1-8 plx acss griffin. I prefer it. Its not as busy its built for dialing and crystal clear. It is longer and heavier but i dont mind that for my purposes.

Thanks for all the great shots against the environment of what I'm guessing may be Utah? Looks like the west desert here. I've been trying to decide on a camo for that area, and was torn. Looks like Multicam is the one 👍

I'm doing a fairly high end 14.5" build and was going to just get a budget end sub $500 Lvpo just to get shooting. Was considering the Arken Ep-8 or one of the cheaper Primary Arms models but stumbled across the Athlon Ares ETR FFP 1-10-24 Lvpo on Optics Planet 28% off for about $750. My Dad has one of their high end long range optics and that thing is crispy. Definitely excited and hoping to get some good price/performance out of the Athlon.

i feel that the aurora is the best compromise for their reticles sans going to a mill grid and do-doing M A T H... lol if they DROP THE CHEVRON AND GIVE US THE AURORA DOT imo it would be the best
@Kross8761
@Kross8761 11 ай бұрын
See this scope was made for people like me, im weird because i like reticles that most people would call "busy" and im not a fan of very barebones reticles. Your main gripe is my biggest selling point. It gives me a "donut of death" on a good 1x and then if i dial in for a more precise shot i have the reticle to assist in that extra precision. It also helps that i live in a *VERY* green world instead of a reddish-brown one so i dont need as much contrast to highlight my reticle. This might be the "perfect" LPVO for people who do live in a "green" world.

Hey man, just started watching you and Hop a lot and just wanted to say I really enjoy your content and it's been really helpful in sorting through the weeds of equipment, especially when it comes to NODs. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see more content from ya! Quick question since you're the PDW man with the PDW plan, I've been setting up my PTR 9KT (PTR's MP5K clone) to do my best at filling the PDW role you've brought up before since I already had it, I've got an Eotech EXPS 3-4 and Surefire M300V on it atm and want to add a small IR laser so that the gun is also technically fully night capable (though I'm not expecting any laser I can fit on here to be particularly powerful at distance, it's going on a PDW anyways) and was wondering if you had any ideas/recommendations? Current plan in my head is mounting the M300V in the 9 o'clock position, a TNVC TOR-MINI IR to the 6 o'clock, and pressure switch for the Surefire to the 3 o'clock (context: I am also a lefty and prefer to grip the MP5K by the magwell, acts as makeshift VFG and I don't deal with the gun's heat after sustained firing as much) Also yes I know the 9KT is pushing it on the viability in the role and I do want to get a Flux Raider in the future, it does look sick after all, but this is what I've got *now* so figured I'd roll with it as best I can and make it work.

With all those stadia lines, i feel like if you were looking from a distance into heavy brush or a tree line, it may be difficult to detect slight movements due to not being able to recognize actual movement because it may look like something is moving if a line/lines move by a branch or shadow. Now that im done with that run on sentence, id say its way too busy. It may work for bench rest shooters but not practical for defense

As an owner of the older PLX 1-8, the PLXc is very compelling, especially in that weight category with a 30mm body. But I think I'll wait for the inevitable PLX Nova before I go for one or the other.

PLX-C nova would likely just be a 8x 1-6x Razor HD-E Which is actually quite "meh" The thing to look out for is the PLX-C with a different type of daylight illum they teased verbally. Will cost about 500 bucks more though.

Do you think that LVPO's like the Steiner P41x or the Trijicon tr24 are still relevant? If so, which one of those two do you think is the better option?
@nicholas1740
@nicholas1740 Жыл бұрын
I really like the Trijicon Credo 1-6 Red. I own two of them and they're crystal clear edge to edge and the best 1 to 1 I've ever looked through. The only thing I don't like about them is they don't have a parallax adjustment. But for an AR that's shooting out to 30-450 yds, I don't see that being a problem. But for a DMR I'd get one with a parallax adjustment and probably something in the 4-16 range anyway.
