The Best Mic System For Hiking? - The DJI Mic System 2 Year Update

We've been using the DJI Wireless Mic system on all of our hikes and backpacking trips for two years now. How has it held up? What are the pros and cons of using the system on trail. Does the recent DJI Mic 2 release improve on the pros and fix the cons? Let me tell you what we've learned so far!

Oh ya if you already have them I would definitely recommend using them. They would even work great for your voice-overs! The two of you could each have your own on a little tripod in front of you. I use them for that on the rare instance I do a voice-over.

Dji makes some great stuff. I wish I would have went for them other than the rode wireless

They sure do! If it weren't for that locking lav issue these would be pretty perfect. They're so close, just a few tweaks!

I don’t make videos nor use a mic. So this video is not as interesting to me. But, I like to support you so I will make sure to comment on here. ;) Although, I’ve never had issues hearing you. So that’s always a plus. Well done on your Mic choice.

I was always curious about the DJI mic. I use the Rode Wireless Pro. Only reason I picked Rode was because it was sold at Best Buy. I liked the directional mic because it didn’t pick up all the surrounding sound. But it was so big, it made me stand out too much and I end up being talked to like your gift shop incident. What was the issue when met last time?

I'm surprised they don't sell the dji mic at best buy. They carry their drones and their gimbals. Yes nothing says "professional Videographer like a big ol microphone!! That time it was paired with the Insta360 Flow gimbal and I had it connected differently. I think it was the USB-C connection into the phone. Idk if moisture got in there or what! I've used it a few times since then in the same way without incident!

We went for the first time today. It was pretty nice. Our hike was only 3 1/2 miles. Not quite up to your standards lol

That's a great hike! Any time you can get out on trail it's awesome! Especially on a gorgeous day!!
