I am using the MX Master since a couple of years, mainly because I have big hands, but I couldn't think about a world without the extra thumb button and I actually think that the Logitech software for the MX Master is really good, but you convinced me to buy a 3D connexion mouse if my Logitech ever got broken.

The only bit I really prefer in the Logitech options software is the media controls set to a button with gestures, but that's minimal compared to the advantages in the cadmouse

I don't use much varieties of mice, but when I'm holding the traditional design mouse front side back, I feel it so comfortable. So, I decided to request one of the branded mouse manufacturers to make a custom made mouse which can be held front side back. They said their designs are good enough, and ask me to chose one from their products 😁 Any one can try holding your mouse front side back and see how comfortable you feel.

For 25 years in the world of 2D and 3D design and about a hundred mice that I have tested, my recommendation would be: Delux M910 (wired only, no longer on sale) and White Shark MIYAMOTO. The buttons above and below the thumb proved to be the most practical feature (it would be perfect to have another button for the index finger, next to the wheel). In addition, the ergonomics and functionality of these mice is what suits me. Let's face it, these are not high-quality mice, but even after 5 years they still work as well as they did on day one.

I have been using 3dconnexion CadMouse since years now. I have the corded version (I don't like wirless stuff, it's not as precise and it depends on batteries) and it is simply the best mouse I have ever had. I would not go back to any other mouse. The actual center button is also a bless.

Yes, the wired mouse has the best polling rate of 1000hz. I use it when it the office (pre covid). However the wireless ones, if connected via a cable also have the same polling rate as the wired one. That is if you can sense the difference in fractions of milliseconds between the typical 125 hz and 1000hz of CadMouse 😂

I personally would recommend a good wireless gaming mouse that is marketed as light weight. Using a light mouse on a good mousepad is just next level in terms of precision and effortless modeling.

That's how i started my hunt for a new mouse, i tried 30+ in shops about all had scroll wheel buttons that are to hard to press frequently. "Razer Viper 8Khz" was the only mouse i found with a wheelclick that would work for 3D apps imo. But the black version look and feel like a cheap toy from the 80's and for about the same price as the 3dconnexion one here..... I got a feeling that "Razer Viper Ultimate" would be something for me but did not get to test it, and no one makes reviews about this topic. witch ones do you recommend and why?
@omaior20
@omaior20 2 жыл бұрын
@@derptweaker945 I actually bought a Razer Orochi v2 for my laptop use and it's surprisingly good. You can use it with dongle for 1ms response time or use it with Bluetooth by switching a switch on the bottom. Scroll wheel feels very good and the mouse is pretty light so I can recommend to try that one because its 1/3 of the price of Viper v2.

@@omaior20 thanks i look in to it. But the scroll *clicker* is it slightly harder than the main buttons? That's what i'm after scrollclicker not the scrollwheel. I'm sending the "3dconnexion" CAD mouse back because my ringfinger got in an awkward position or at least you can say doing allot of right clicking with it make my arm hurt witch defeat the pulpous. And because there is a scrollweel in the way i cant use the middle button with my trigger finger. Also the connection had drops even on close range. I got a Mionix SK now. The scrollclicker has broken but i modded it and made a 3 mouse button instead of the scrollwell. It works even better then the 3dconnexion for me. But its a temporary solution and its involves a icecreemstick i and fabric tape. The stick is put in water overnight then bent and dried to perfect shape. This way im using the DPI buttons as middle clicker, it works hilariously well.

It does also depend on the mouse pad that is being used. I use the CadMouse pro wired with the 3D Connexion mouse pad and it has the least amount of friction possible while retaining a lot of precision. Clearly my favourite setup.

My best solution so far is the apple magic mouse + middle app ($8) for the middle mouse button. When configuring it in blender you'll have the best mouse you can get. You get 3 button functionality, trackpad abilities in blender with the magic mouse touch and gestures, scroll,move & rotate in all directions etc. Like a 3Dconnexion space and 3 button mouse together.

@@UHStudio Razer Software is excellent (allows what you asked for), you have as well the Hypershift option wich allows you to assign 2 binds on one button, while pressing your chosen hypershiftbutton (kinda like shift), works only on a razer keyboard or you assign it like me to the usual "increase dpi button" on the mouse. definetly check this out, if you find it easy to get used to new keybinds.

About 25 years ago I bought a Logitech ergonomic keyboard and TrackMan. The latter has a ball that's double the size of the TrackBall, 4 buttons and about the same shape as the new trackman. You could move the ball with all fingers, as the ball peeked through the ridge of the mouse. When it finally wore down totally, I switched to my early version of the TrackBall, which I still use today. Meanwhile I went through several high resolution gaming mouses, but none distinctly recommendable.
@UHStudio
@UHStudio 2 жыл бұрын
I remember a colleague of mine in one of the office I worked with had the old super large trackball mouse, and he swore by it. It also seems that the large the ball, the more accurate the pointing could be.
@peterslegers6121
@peterslegers6121 2 жыл бұрын
@@UHStudio It had some space to rest your thumb on it, which was a huge plus. And moving a ball with only a thumb, is by default much less subtile than moving the same object in between your thumb and a finger. The larger ball fits nicely in the palm of your hand and therefor gives a lot of control.

I don't understand why many can recommend the Logitech MX 2S for CAD. The click of the wheel is incredibly hard... I returned the mouse after 2 days of embarrassment. I'm much more efficient with a cheap 10 year old cable mouse that has a soft click on the wheel... That's a CAD staple for me. And I can get rid of all the extra buttons... Problem is also wight. Cad mouse is also too heavy i think...

Unfortunately, I've had terrible reliability on the wired 3D Connexion cadmouse, had both click actuator and scroll wheel failure. I'm on my third warranty replacement and now it's starting to have scrolling issues again. The good thing is that the company support is great, I'm just getting tired dealing with warranty. I might invest in a newer version and ditch the old one. needless to say, it's my favorite mouse for 2D/3D design work. Thanks for the review

I wouldn't recommend the 3dconnexion CadMouse. I bought one and it only lasted about 6 months before the scroll wheel started having issues. You can only connect bluetooth to one computer at a time, very frustrating when you use a laptop and home and a desktop at work.. I tossed it out and bought a logitech mx anywhere 3. Much better mouse. Better feel, you can connect three computers and switch between the three and it's USB C for charging.
@UHStudio

I use a cadmouse for quite a few years. If you do have an issue within a year (depending on where you are located), your mouse is in warranty and they will replace it. I had an issue once with a clicker no registering all the clicks and they sent me a new one. Also, the bluetooth versions have two modes, so technically they can be connected to two computers - one connected via the USB dongle and another via bluetooth. Yes, not as flexible as the three way switch of the MX mice but for two computers it can work quite well.

My employer purchased the 3DConnexion CadMouse for it's staff and unfortunately its far too heavy for long usage, weighing in at whopping 110g. At this weight you will get wrist strain, almost unavoidable. Factor in the nonreplacable battery, micro USB and the cost, it's hard to recommend for most people. I personally use the Logitech G305, fitted with a AAA battery, which weighs in under 80g. The G305 is highly accurate (massive DPI range), has customizable buttons, great size for most people (I have quite big hands), good for people with a claw/finger grip and costs under £40 if you shop around. My advice is to pay attention to weight, all of the mice shown in this review are far too heavy in my opinion. Once you use a very light mouse, you will never go back to anything over 80g.

I got the 3Dconnexion CAD mouse compact atm. the scroll wheel feel like a standard gaming mouse. It got those segmented stops, its not freeroll. But there is a software solution if you roll the wheel fast it keep on going just as if there was freerolling, which work surprisingly good. The scroll wheel feels quality but not extraordinary. The scroll clicker is quite good almost as easy as the main clickers. its sticks up at standard height. (higher then lowprofile gamingmouses wheel does) Witch make the scroll clicker not optional for rapid use. I'm sending it back soon, but ask me if there something more you need to know.
