Thank you for your honesty and review of the Vigilante. I found a deal and went for it with 2.6 (front) and 2.3 (rear). Between price and you're positive review I was sold Absolutely LOVE IT! You weren't wrong. I've had Maxxis DHF/DHR, Bontrager SE, Continental Trail King 2.4(front and rear), Trail King 2.4 (front) and Mountain King 2.3 (rear), and this Vigilante 2.6/2.3 setup has been the best so far. I'm faster everywhere (climbing, flats, cornering, etc) and very confidence inspiring ride! Thanks Darren/Jenson!

What’s the setup recommended for Saint George, UT? Loose over hard, dry desert conditions? I usually run Assegai/Dissector. Specialized has peaked my interest aswell as Vittoria.

I live in Pisgah National Forest and still run Butcher/Purgatory all year round. Are there better tires? Sure but the rotational weight penalty to me just isn't worth it. I don't mind adding weight anywhere on my bike except the tires. Heavy tires feel way too sluggish for me and I love a playful bike. The easiest way to get a playful bike is to ease up on tire weight.
