@@sschweg08 as someone who has had to learn many languages to talk to natives it actually is super normal to repeat yourself. The more difficult the language the harder it is to get the accent, and in Chinese especially with multiple accents it's hard to nail. So locals/natives often don't understand you since they're not used to hearing their language in a foreign accent. Also accounting for the fact that many people probably don't even expect him to talk their language at all the first attempt at saying a sentence can basically be thrown away since it will most likely not be understood, hence the need for repetitions.

Please go to Jiangxi Province and do a food tour there. I'd love to see what types of specialty food that province has to offer. I simply know they are well known for rice noodles! p.s. Husband is from there and even he doesn't know any special food from his OWN province.
