I remember seeing this in a second hand record shop in the late 80s early 90s going for a lot more than you paid for it. If this turns up on ebay, it tends to go for stupid money. Readers Digest released loads of albums in the 70s and 80s. You're lucky to get it for the price you did.

Hi. It was released as a four album box set originally then re-released as a five lp box set incorporating the Super Trouper album. It is supposed to be the best vinyl sound of most of ABBA recordings according to various reviews over the years. It was ordered through Readers Digest magazine. (There is also the single Readers Digest LP of hits and the different compilation four cd box set.)

Congratulations on your purchase. I bought this box set in the early eighties when it was released by Reader's Digest in the Netherlands. Unfortunately the Dutch version did not have the separate sleeves. The records inside the box were stored in plain white sleeves. Discogs mentions 1982 as its release date.

Cool video and I got my copy when Reader's Digest promoted it in 1982. It was nice to get a load of 'B' sides which at the time were unavailable on 12" albums only on their original singles.

I have this in my collection as well I remember saving it from a joblot of records that were about to be thrown away. I never knew it existed! Just subscribed to your channel as well as I love collecting vinyl! Also love ABBA, Queen and Bowie too but I also like other artists like The Cure, Dead Or Alive and Kim Wilde etc.

£10 is a very good price. They’re certainly not rare but maybe worth double that on a good day. Comes in a couple of different versions. A 4 and a 5 LP set. I have the cassette version, but not the LPs yet. It’s always on the list, just never got round to it yet.

Also I notice there are no songs from the Ring Ring album, apart from those that appeared on the very popular 1976 "Greatest Hits" album, as the Ring Ring album with its rarer tracks had not been issued on general release in the UK by the time this compilation came out. That came out on CD some time after that, but new fans often think that it had been available from the beginning, but it had more popularity in European countries, not the UK. Anyhow, I think it is always a refreshing play due to the random selection, which I like, as it includes a lot of less known album tracks that most "Hits" compilations do not include. 🤗

£10 is a very good price for a box set like this. What a bargain. I think I bought mine for the same price in one of my local charity shops. I love these Reader's Digest sets, the record labels on them are great and as far as sound quality goes I think they sound absolutely superb. I have quite a lot of these box sets in my collection now and I love them. My favourite ones I have at the moment are The Best Of Abba, The Best Of The New Seekers, Elvis-The Legend Lives On and The Sensational 70's (which I have on both vinyl and cassette). You can even get some of these sets on CD too. I think I have another 70's one somewhere on a 6 CD set. These box sets are great, they sound amazing and are well worth picking up if you find them in very good condition.

What a bargain! It will be an interesting listen with those early and later tracks mixed up like that. I'm still fond of my Readers Digest New Seekers set, even with its very dated 70's graphics.

There is actually a 6LP version released in South Africa, which is rare. According to Record Collector magazine, the UK box set is worth 35 quid. However, on ebay you can pay over a 100 quid. The quality of the recordings are reported to be the best available of ABBA on vinyl.
