Awesome Vid. Having recently returned from London (this past week) here are some comments others might find useful. 1) Make sure you have a booking for everything, especially on thurs-sunday. The number of upset tourists we saw being denied going to a restaurant was jaw dropping. At one particular restaurant, they turned away 20+ couples who came in coming to eat. In some cases you will need to book weeks in advance. Do not procrastinate this, else you will be queued up in a giant line at a really crappy tourist restaurant with all the other people who didn't book ahead. 2) The xmas markets are pretty much all the same stalls. They may differ a little bit, but in general they are full of things you would not buy yourself, or anyone else. The markets themselves are great to walk through, enjoying the lights and seeing all the festivities. Our favorite markets were covent garden (both for lights, carols, events, and items to buy) and xmas by the river (starting at the tower bridge (you can't miss it)). It's a nice walk by the river, and due to the spacing absorbs crowds very well. (We hit all the main markets except for hyde park) 3) It is absolutely MENTAL on Saturday. If you show up for a sat night just to check things out in central london, you are going to have a bad time. The crowds get so dense you can't even move and have to let the crowd slowly pull you along. You can not travel by car, taxi, or bus. They just don't move. The tubes are so full by the main stops you have to queue up sometimes. We almost missed a booking for a 10 minute walk due to the crowds (took 25 minutes!). Would highly recommend avoiding central london xmas areas on saturday, and do something further out from the center. Every other day was much more manageable, and quite nice during the week. 4) Suitcase monkey's recommendations are spot on. The various markets and foods we tried on his recommendations made for a wonderful time. Also check out Love and London, and topjaw for more great eats and tips. Our absolute fav restaurant was Paradise Soho (get bookings weeks in advance). We only had two stinker eats our entire 10 day trip (scott egg at ginger pig, but the lamb sausage roll there was amazing), and the cheese fries at camden market which were so awful we tossed them.
