As someone who has hiked for a couple weeks through the Sacred Valley of Peru, it is truly one of the most beautiful places in the world!!

I’m glad Gordon said about high altitude flavor. I’ve thought I was so crazy for years, one time I went camping in top of a high mountain and we made just simple boiled eggs for breakfast but not so simple, we cooked them and cooked them and cooked them and they still weren’t done. Finally we all got so hungry we just started eating them half cooked. Best eggs I ever tasted in my entire life

How humble and grateful and gracious and respectful and engaged and connected and authentic (and Funny!) is Gordon... This will be Gordon's legacy

My daughter visited Peru as part of her Senior trip in highschool..(Lima) she absolutely loved Peru

Kudos to Gordon for going to that altitud! Chuno soup is the best . I make it whenever I can find Chuno ( dehydrated potato) in Peruvian grocery stores , although I don't have the original ingredients but still the ancient flavors are there, exactly like my grandfather taught me

Oh wow, this takes me back 20 years to when I visited Peru! The Sacred Valley is something very special and Machu Picchu is on a whole other level. I simply could not bring myself to try guinea pig. The cuisine in general though, is so full of flavour.

I'm from Perú, my grandfather used to cook "Cuy" quite often. Delicious plate! Obviously the missing some good marinated with onions and herbs. The second plate that Gordon shows here is Suri! Swear in my life never gonna try (I'm a peruvian) apparently it's like a fried cheese sensation. Obviously taste is way different. And the last plate Amanto fish marinated is also really good with some fried potatoes. Difficult to find them, you can get only from the local fishermen. All of my friends that asked me for references of Peruvian food and staff like that, I told them that the only thing expensive is the ticket, everything else is so cheap and tasty because it's made there, if you are willing to Peru and visit. 100% recommended to visit the rural places of the country so friendly with tourists. You'll never regret visiting Perú! 🇵🇪 Just a note. You may be feeling dizzy while visiting these places. It's because the high and you'll be most like above the sea level so the pressure in our heads will increase due to being near the sky (Pure Air) just breathe deep and slowly to avoid it. 🇵🇪

The Mountains in Peru is a place where Love and Peace have been as part of the geography during thousands of years. Respect for Pachamama ( Mother Earth) was done way before of concepts as "ecology" or "sustainability" were stamped by our western civilization

Unbelievable landscapes! As a peruvian, in Cusco, there are some of the most wholesome experiences one can get in his life. Totally recommend going for Cusco as a traveling experience.

If we all got to explore the world like this and experience the food and lives of others, we'd be better off as a planet. "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one."

Oh! At 8:00 you can tell Umberto doesn't speak Spanish as his first language, but Quechua! I can tell because of the allophony between u and o, which is a characteristic in Quechua. And I speak a basic Quechua btw! I'm from Peru too 😄 Guinea Pigs FTW! xD! It's a lovely video, thank you Mr. Ramsay!

I would have loved to see Gordon in northern Peru. Especially in Lambayeque, Chiclayo and Piura, all those have ancient mochica-chimu heritage and the food is so unique, tasty and varied. Even many peruvians today are recognizing that the north of Peru is a culinary hotspot and quite uncharted as well.

Lol Peruvian food is not just about Guinea pig and worms. I will never try either and I’m Peruvian born, raised and alyqays living here. What makes our food special is all the unbelievable layers of flavor in our food. But the best restaurants are in Lima, not in Cusco. Yes they might have great historical places, but our best food experience is in the capital and it doesn’t have to be wild like this. Wish you had tried our food in the capital.
