The kid isn't literally attacked by the earlking, he has fallen illl and is having feverdreams. The earlking serves as a methaphore for his imminent death. The moment that the earlking touches him is the moment he succumes to his illness. Also, the father is aware that his son is having feverdreams, and is very disturbed by them.

Der Erlkonig is my absolute favourite of Schubert’s lieders. Always gives me the goosebumps ❤❤❤

My absolute favorite piece of all time is schubert's 8th unfinished symphony in b minor. I listen to it so many times I can sing each individual part it's soooo good!

You said we’d only listen to a few moments of the Impromptu but I noticed you kept playing it in the background which was nice. It really IS that beautiful and deserves a listen.

Allysia you have changed my mind about how I feel about Schubert! I'm going to give his music another chance (Fyi I don't link the Trout quintet or the Lieder I've heard). However bc I respect and love your videos I'm willing to try again.
