Follow along as I review the reasons I made the switch to Extreme Outback, and why I chose this on-board air compressor over the competition.
If you have experience with installing on board air (OBA) already, a lot of this video may be a repeat-however, there are some things in here even I learned when installing the Extreme Outback Magnum compressor.
If you're looking at this compressor, you want one of the fastest compressors available on the market, along with solid reliability, and incredible results-this thing will blow you away (sorry haha).
Oh, and this compressor is available in 12v and 24v.
Now you might be wondering why you should choose Extreme Outback over some other options (ARB, Viair, Smittybilt) and there are two main reasons-speed and reliability! The compressors from Extreme Outback are really made for commercial and industrial use, and are WAY overbuilt for off-road and overlanding, and will provide you with years of service. Almost all (seriously, find one that isn’t) compressors from competitors are rated at 100% duty cycle in a dainty 70 or 72f environment. That means if the compressor is operated in conditions hotter than that (engine bay, under the truck, inside your truck, or almost anywhere in summertime lol, etc) than the compressor is not 100% duty cycle rated. There are plenty of instances you can find online of guys burning out their compressors or having them shut down over heat related issues while airing up-but you won’t have that problem with Extreme Outback. Like I said, these things are built tough and meant to operate in extreme conditions, all while functioning with fast speed and CFM.
You will find Extreme Outback compressors in high end Earthroamer builds, and military applications for good reason-they work extremely well.

The smaller compressors and many period use a small high speed motor cuz they're cheaper. That's the high RPM's you hear. The ExtremeAir seems to have a huge motor likely high torque and lower RPM(Expensive) motor. But also better in the long run and lower is easier sound to tolerate. Have you heard of the big Twin compressors The Napa 300L Maxi Trac or the Thumper MKII 10.3cfm...obviously at 0PSI but still. 96a while running

Very nice compressor, and also nicely done review! The Extremeaire is one of the best, probably lesser know due to lack of marketing, and too honest performance specs... The Smittybilt rated at 5.6 cfm is the biggest liars in the industry - it's a clone of the 3.7 cfm MV90. The ExtremeAire is on the same build quality of the best Viairs, but nearly double the performance. Longevity will be far superior to the Smitty, and even ARB (look at the poor heat sink of ARB cylinder / head)
