Thanks for the video brother! Always wondered. My favorite reading bible is the Schuyler Quentel as well. I have a full size and a PSQ and I find myself reaching for the PSQ a little more often because I love the feel of it in the hand. However, the readability and font of the full size is unmatched. Great review! Great bibles. I found the ESV PRB (Personal Reference Bible) to be a great reader. I like that it's single column like all the other books I read. Minimal annotations and notes. 8 pt font sounds small, but with line matching and 8.75 point leading it's very readable and man it's a great hand size. Keep up the great work!

Nice review. I currently own six Bibles which can be interpreted by some as excessive. However as you touched on, Bibles come in different styles and sizes, all for different uses. My study Bibles consist of a Tyndale KJV life application study Bible, a Thompson KJV chain reference 5th edition in goatskin, a Holman illustrated CSB study Bible and a personal size Zondervan KJV reference Bible. The Tyndale was my first Bible given to me by my mother. She also gave me the Holman illustrated Bible.The Zondervan was gifted to me by my father. My daily readers are both KJV, an early 80’s center column concordance by World. It’s genuine leather and has the very high quality paper with a bold typeface. It has a special feel to the hands and eyes. My other reader is a mid 60’s KJV long primer by Collins. The leather is old and stiff and I’m considering having it recovered in goatskin soon. I have to admit though that I’m constantly fighting the urge to buy a Allan or Cambridge with wide margins. I’m just afraid it will spend most of it’s time in the box.

Another great vid. I'm with the others, there's a drawing into the Word aspect about your videos. Have you checked out the Bibliotheca project, American Literary Version? There are no headings, chapters or verses, although there is a line break to show chapter separation. It's very interesting to read, expecting chapter or verse and it not being there, but kinda knowing where you are. I have it on my nightstand. I went through Luke and now going through Acts, since Luke wrote, and it's a continuation. Bless you bro!

I second the recommendation. If you want a reader's Bible in its purest form, Bibliotheca is the way to go. And an interesting thing I would like to share. When they started sending out Bibliotheca, a lot of people found they received the wrong order, for us they sent just the New Testament instead of the full set. But it didn't escape me that this was a blessing in disguise since we were able to gift the extra NT to someone else for Christmas, and we got our full set by Christmas anyways.

I want an NKJV Hand size Schuyler SO bad, I looooove their bibles but the big ones are just to much weight. I think the NASB Allan Reader with 28 gsm line matched print would be the ultimate biblburger 😍 I really like the paper Cambridge used for the Turquoise and that wasn't even line matched, its the perfect paper IMO and would be great for the Nasb. Brother they have a Nasb Comfort Print of the 95 edition for the Premier line coming out this year 😍 I'm very interested in that little bit of info. That is weird ...My first bible reading experience was Revelation also , it was in my wife's Life Application bible..I sat down and read straight through I couldn't put it down, it was so cool I loved the commentary. I bought the Canterbury because I feel the type setting or type face is just so beautiful but what I didn’t know is that the wide margin Canterbury is as big as an old world Catholic alter bible lol. I mean it’s huge man!! But it’s so so beautiful bro. If you can get past it’s size it’s truly a work of art. My next goal is to buy a Schuyler Quentel in multiple versions. I’m wondering something though, do you feel the NLT is a solid translation in regards to biblical credibility? I really like that type face on the Caxton is why I ask. Also I like your background music. 😴 💤

Hey Brother, Have you done a video on why you preach from the NASB? I am curious. I have been reading about translations and about peoples comments about translations (ugh that is not always helpful). I am looking for some insight. I just got an Allan Readers NASB. I am kinda on the fence to exchange it for an ESV or NKJV. I don't know. I would like to hear your take on it. I hope this does not turn into a repent for not using the KJV sorta thing. I wish people would see that the main matter of repentance is not with the version of bible we use but with our hearts towards God as he sees us in open, in secret and in anonymous public message boards and chatrooms. I bought the bible to celebrate one year "sober" from pornography. God has lit my heart on fire for him, I just want to burn for Jesus in a steady controlled flame of white hot love. I love Jesus and his power to change, love your testimony. God speaks through you.
@davidleebrown3956
@davidleebrown3956 5 жыл бұрын
I love your testimony! Bless the Lord 😃 Also, thanks for the video idea! As a preview to let you know, I preach from NASB mostly, not exclusively. There are passages where I like to use other translations. For example: the NKJV is gold for Psalm 110, or the ESV conveys Romans 2:4 the best.
@Bestiesforever4
@Bestiesforever4 5 жыл бұрын
@@davidleebrown3956 Awesome. I am looking forward to it! Way more to the testimony, we will talk about it in heaven as we are praising Jesus! Praying for you brother as you have a vision for unifying churches in your city. Raise up Jesus and he draws all men (even ministers) to himself. I will check out NKJV and ESV for those texts. I love reading different versions to give me insight. How does reading different versions affect memorization for you? Does the Holy Spirit just take care of that or do you specifically apply your mind like an instrument to one text in particular? Could be a cool video idea as well.

"Though God had instructed the human race about the way to live through reason, man willingly plunged himself into the most profound darkness from which no one could ever expect escape. How good of God to make the light of His Word shine into the world and under the new economy to disseminate it to all nations, so that now no mortal should lack a guiding light as he makes his way through the gloomy darkness of this life. Assuredly the Word of God is the light of God (Ps. 119:105). He who reads it hears God speaking to Him: he converses with God and with Christ Jesus Himself. He recognizes in the voice and writings of the prophets and apostles the very voice of the Holy Spirit. This Word is the fountain of life for him. It is medicine for his mind. It is food for his spirit. He finds here the delights of the celestial paradise. In Scripture there is nothing inferior or cheap, nothing fictitious or far-fetched, nothing false or mistaken, nothing dry or sterile. Everything is valuable, pure, solid, nourishing. If the meaning of certain texts is profound and difficult, this only serves to stimulate our curiosity, deepen our meditations, and sharpen our reflections on Scripture. In short, the Bible expresses divine wisdom in every part and is worthy of its author, the most exalted and most rational God. 'The sayings of the LORD are pure, silver refined in a tile oven, purified sevenfold.' (Ps. 12:6)" - Campegius Vitringa, The Spiritual Life, 120-121

Thanks for the vid!! I have two versions of the Quintal currently (the brick's 45 GSM and the 36 GSM with the ribbed spine). I am thinking of purchasing the new NKJV Thinline 28 GSM bible in firebrick red that is coming in June. I am concerned about the opaque percentage as I'm sure it will have more ghosting than the other two. However, I see the paper they will be using is Indopaque which I believe is different to the type they used on the other versions. Will that make difference in the ghosting knowing the weight of the paper is considerably lighter?

Hey Dave! Been watching your videos for a while now and I feel so much better now knowing that I'm not the only "bible freak" out there! I love collecting them too! Question: I'm looking for a new premium bible for a full bible read through. And thinking I'd like a NLT for that purpose. I'd like to get a Schuyler - debating between Caxton and the Quintel. What do you think? Although I don't see where the Quintel is available in a NLT. I would be doing most of my reading in a comfortable chair, not at a desk.
