Will we ever see a more efficient or better Design? Is this the GOAT?
@turboimport95

this is the GOAT. but you can make it 100% better. use 4 electrolyzer and stack them top to bottom 4 in a single row instead of side to side. left side o2 and right side hydrogen. both sides act like inf storage so you can pump out what you need and let the system keep running and it never backs up. this is the next level from the standard submerged setup. I run this and it also powers a aqua tuner and cools the o2 down to 0 degrees.. base cooling and unlimited o2 and even extra hydrogen all you need is a water source.. I actually just built this setup testing in debug mode after seeing the submerged setup and wanted to see if i could make it better. I then built it in a legit game and I got 4 pipes of o2 flowing in the base at 0 F or negative degrees. Ice Box.. all self powered..

I've been trying to set this up and I get both gasses in the upper area while nothing goes to the bottom area; this is base game with DLC active and no mods. I finally flipped the airflow tiles to the opposite side (basically reversing the construction of the wells around the electrolyzers) and it started working great. Just a tip in case anyone has the same issue I had.

oh hey, good to hear that works! usually theres a mod that messes with the output if the design doesnt work. there was someone who recently had that issues and found out that a mod was changing where the elements of hydrogen and oxygen would spawn. I went in and rebuilt this today and still had no issues- you might be the first person to say it didnt work thats not using mods. did you only try it once? i've heard of people having issues but a save/load would fix the issue immediately.

Thx for this. I had been having a hard time getting into midgame on an all acheivement run and even a full rodrigez never seem to produce enough hydrogen to do more than power itself (rather it wasn't enought to power my base with it alone). My only issue I had was my gases ended up flipped, but since I hadn't started my main power spine yet, it just became a question of which side to build the hydrogen generators (below rather than above). This is a small, compact, and scaleable design. + infinite oxygen & hydrogen storage. If you want to go for Super Sustainable using this here's my advice: 1) find the astroroid's side walls and plan to build this on the side furthest from your base (so you can plan out your power spine later). 2) look at your max power usage of your current base and divide by 800 (hydrogen plant output) to see how many of these Sub-SPOM units and hydrogen generators I'd suggest to start with. 3) Use a little automation so you have an initial base of hydrogen (I set mine to start when there is over 1000g) as an initial buffer before sending it to the generators. 4) Use proper smart battery management on your generators and your all set and hydrogen will just keep building and be easily accessable for other things. I've been building new stations to my base since then and haven't needed to worry about power yet. Haven't acheived Super Sustainable yet, but it's just a matter of time. My whole base is running off of just this. (~cycle 150) So thanks again. This was just the thing I needed to solve my early-mid game power woes.

@@2LegitCity In my case the flip actually turned out benifical, I had been using a polluted water tank to siff as the water source. Some brine ended up in the tank and started damage the electroizers. Since oxygen was on the top half, it was easy to open it up and repair without worring about suffication. Also since I had such a large reserviour of hydrogen by then, I could turn off the electrolizers; repair them and close it up again with no loss in operation. Simple and hardy.

@2LegitCity
@2LegitCity 17 күн бұрын
for cooling, it typically means running an AQ/ST combo. you would usually run your oxygen through a cold box to your desired temp but since this design is also infinite storage, you can cool the gas directly. if youre lucky with a cold water geyser (-10c) you can run that too, as long as it lasts

This is really legit. The more you scale it up, the more ridiculous the extra power generated from it is, as well. @2LegitCity
@2LegitCity Жыл бұрын
the gas reset and swap on load only happens if there is a vacuum in either space or if there is a 3rd gas present in the box. you can also prefill the room to separate the gases where you want them and connect the pumps in each room to some pressure sensors so they dont over pump. this design is finnicky in that its very sensitive to things like that. hope that helps

a noob question - how did you manage to get there just 6 kg of crude oil? I can imagine the 200kg - that is just one bottle? Just thinking about it, I would spill the oil on the floor, mop it, set the emptiers to sweep only and sweep the bottles with +/- amount I need? Is there any other more precise way how to do it?
@2LegitCity
@2LegitCity 2 жыл бұрын
what i do is run the game on 1x and pause the moment the bottle is being emptied. you can see when you click on the bottle emptier how much is remaining in the contents. i mash the pause button until i drop enough and afterwards uncheck the liquid so the bottle emptier drops the bottle

Hey just found this great setup but I'm wondering a few things 1)What your pressure sensor settings are? and what does it control? 2) I've had issues with my base being overpressurized and the O2 sneaks up top how do you stop that? 3) Do you need 2 O2 pumps per electorlizer?
@2LegitCity
@2LegitCity Жыл бұрын
1) pressue sensor is above 900g, but anything from 600-1000g range is fine. it makes sure the oxygen pumps dont over pull oxygen since if you create a vacuum in one of the chambers after its primed, it breaks the build. 2) overpressurized but oxygen on top? that sounds like you have a carbon dioxide(co2) issue. if that is the case, you actually need more oxygen and to break space for the carbon dioxide to flow into. co2 one of the heavier gases in the game so you need to have space below your base for that gas to flow into. at the point that theres too much, you could start pumping it into storage for other uses later on. 3) 2 oxygen pumps per electrolyzer in this setup, yes.

neither of those would cause the gases to not filter properly. that would only happen if one of the rooms over pumps and creates a vacuum or that a presence of another (3rd) gas enters the room and gets close to the electrolyzer.

Just built this and i used water instead of brine ... when i turn on all 200kg of water is displaced to one tile leaving the other "water" tile vacant, this is allowing the gases to mix ... no mods spaced out dlc ... should i defo use brine and not water? area was a vacuum and setup as above. Just tried 200ks ethanol and 200 kgs of water over 2 tiles and the same issue with the water being displaced to one tile .. tried with oil and ethanol and same issue ... update i was a muppet and did not have a solid tile on top of the airflow tiles ... doh! works beautifully ..
@2LegitCity
@2LegitCity 7 ай бұрын
there is actually a bit of RNG with the gas spawn points at the initial fill up when the room is in a vacuum, however we found that you can prefill either top or bottom room with the element you want there (either oxygen or hydrogen) and it will separate in that fashion. once the gases are already in the correct rooms (not mixed) the electrolyzers will spawn the gases properly.

Very interesting, I might try this! I typically use the Rodriguez design, but I kinda like this one better in that it looks like the gases stay separated a lot better! One question I had though, typically you see 2 pumps per electrolyzer as the volume it produces requires it. Here you have only 3 for 2 electrolyzers. Is there a reason for this? Does this produce less oxygen?
@LindsayGrossmann
@LindsayGrossmann 2 жыл бұрын
I think I missed the fact that this is also an infinite gas storage.. so if I'm thinking right that means you could use as less or more, depending on your needs, correct? This is also solves my issue with others where I always have excess hydrogen! Wow, this looks great
@2LegitCity
@2LegitCity 2 жыл бұрын
@@LindsayGrossmann yep, i only needed 3 lines, but technically if you dont consume all of the oxygen right away, you could put in a 4th oxygen pump at the bottom. the math is though, each electro is 888 g/s so two is 1776 g/s and 4 gas pumps is 2000 g/s so technically you can eventually pump out all the oxygen if you do consume it immediately and the gas pumps have 100% activity/uptime. now that being said, im at like 2000kg per tile in the bottom box at the moment- so that being said it is possible to over pump but if you under-consume it allows it to stockpile back up again

polluted water right? you could if you pair that with water since salt and brine both are heavier but i would still try to avoid it as the bottom layer- there are instances where the liquid moves over a tile for a fraction of a second and you could off-gas. although that situation shouldnt occure frequently, the possiblity of it is enough to make me not use that as an alternative. also, since it has to be on the bottom layer, the airflow tile on the left of it will not offgas, its a weird property where polluted water only offgases on the top layer and not from the sides or bottom
