Here are my Sony Tx650 settings that I use for weddings!

Hot off the press. With the TX660, you can select a Scene whilst recording LPCM. Im very happy about that, as I get a better idea of what audio I am going to hear and minmise the amount of work I do in post. Voice Notes is one I particularly like because it cuts the amount of ambient noice. If it is a really important job where audio quality if critical, I may consider not using the Scene selector and fixing everything in post.

@@AdamWingFilms The only other noticeable differences I found were: - The USB ports are different. The 660 is USB Type-C - The 660 box is smaller (whatever) - The LCD screen and writing in the 660 is bigger (helpful for those like me who are bit long sighted) - No earphones with the 660 (another whatever) I will be curious to see your resuts after posting. The rest of the Scene Selections were not worth using IMHO. I will be curious to hear if you have found any way to minimise wind noise. Anyway, thanks for your video.

Just used mine for the first time. I had it on LPCM in the REC Mode as suggested but it changed to the MP3 format when you fiddle around with Scene Select (I switched to Voice Notes). Noticed the unintentional change when I downloaded the file off the recorder. Something to note...

Yes, changing the scene select will override any manual changes that you do.. something to be careful of.

what sort of EQ settings are you applying in post to your TX650 files Adam?

Hey Adam I'm filming my first wedding this weekend. Have one of these tx650s and a zoom.... Thinking of just taping the 650 to the mic for The speeches and using the zoom for general backup...thanks for your videos

It's been a few years but … how'd it go Maxi? I got sleeves for the TX from Etsy - you just wrap the whole thing around the handheld mic and it works great.

Hi Adam, do you use any windshield when a ceremony is outside and is windy? Or it is not necessary?

I’ve never used one. Not tested it extensively but from the outdoor ceremonies I’ve done it has been fine.

Hi, thanks for your sharing. Can you give me some advise: what is the best setting for vlogging ? Scene Select ? REC Mode ? Stereo Emphasis ? Recording Filter ? VOR ? Thanks

The only settings I change are sensitivity- set to low, and recording mode- set to lpcm (lcpm?) Wav file, instead of .mp3 Should work fine 👍

Hi Adam, Just a quick question. Have you set the sensitivity on medium or high to see if there was a big difference or not?

Yeah. No major difference to be honest, just picks up less pocket ruffles etc. slightly on low.

Adam having used these for a while now they are great but this season I tried them for outdoor ceremonies and the wind noise - really bad making them unusable - do you revert to a hidden lav for outdoor ceremonies?

wow really. I dont use anything else, never had an issue with wind. Never hurts to have back ups obviously but I haven't found it to be a problem as yet..

Hi mate, got a quick question. Bought a few of these from your recommendation, love them so far! Do you record onto the internal memory or use microSD? I’m always worried that something might fail, and for some reason I think microSD is more failsafe?!

How do you suppose to change the REC mode and Mic sensitivity with the Scene select? Or can you only set it as one or the other?

One or the other. Scene select acts as a preset so overrides any other settings you have changed.

Hi kaitlin, I don’t use any filters or anything like that. Just tweak in post slightly with bass boost and compression.

Maybe once or twice a year? Not often. These won’t plug in, I have a zoom h1 for that

Personally I'd still recommend also recording from the wireless microphone receiver, mixer/console, or speaker output. At most weddings that will give you the best audio, and it'll be better than what the TX650/660 can do. The TX will do a good job too, just not as good typically as a purpose-built full-size handheld microphone. Highly recommend something like a Zoom F3 for this (or Zoom H5/H6 or Tascam DR-100mkIII for more versatility).

Hi, no problem. I don’t use any lighting for receptions or dancing. Just natural light or venue lights. And ISO in the camera if I need

Beautiful Philippines well for speeches... best man, groom, father of bride, one on the roaming mic, on on the speaker as backup, and a spare just in case someone else unexpectedly wants to say something, just quickly clip it on. For ceremony, one on groom, priest, readers (could be 2 or 3), and good to have spares just in case

Exactly as dodger said. There is always at least 2-3 speeches at my weddings. So one for each. And I have had a wedding with 7 speeches once so you can never have enough back ups! 6 seems to be a safe number for most scenarios
