Episode 3 of 50! These are the best sounding records in my collection. A brief history of the album followed by my recommended pressing which provides incredible sound quality and SATISFACTION.
Bob Mould's first solo album is a stark departure from his previous work with Husker Du. It's a rich, emotional rollercoaster ride - largely acoustic and heavily influenced by the likes of Richard Thompson, Fairport Convention, The Byrds, and more.
Opening music: “A Letter From Paris” by Elise Solberg

I have the DMM OG - a truly great album I will never forget seeing Bob Mould solo acoustic at Cabaret Metro with him playing like a mad man with his head about to explode! Another great suggestion - keep’em coming

I'm a relatively new subscriber to your videos Tim. I love the insight and knowledge you bring to the rabbit hole that is vinyl collecting. Especially love your Jazz series of videos. Also your stories of growing up and your influences back then. Keep up the great work!

Great video Tim ! ! Really enjoy these. I've never heard of Bob Mould or any of the bands you mentioned. I'm not a punk fan but I did preview this on Apple Music and I did like what I heard. That opening song is really good. Thanks again

Loving your crown jewels videos do far.. I'm hoping your next video is the Robert Ludwig hot mix of Led Zeppelin II.. I saw your video when you picked up a near mint copy. I would totally enjoy you revisiting that pressing very soon!

This is my first contact with Mould, I discovered Husker Du much later but I always preferred this and Black Sheets of Rain. Another great one Tim!

Great vid, Tim! I had a US original in my old collection. I bought Workbook 25 ~4 years ago, but sold it last year. I didn't think it improved upon the original and I preferred the original presentation. I ended up getting a UK original, which is also DMM, but not Mastersdisk, so I'd still like a US original. I had that Wishing Well 12" in my old collection, still looking to get it again. I do have the UK 12" 45 of See a Little Light, which has "All Those People Know," which you'll know from Workbook 25, plus "Compositions for the Young and Old" and "Shoot Out the Lights" from the Cabaret Metro in 1989. A must-have imo. Workbook is one of those records I come back to over and over again throughout my life. Complex, deep and dark. "Sinners and Their Repentances" doesn't get talked about much, but it's maybe my favorite on the album.

Actually it's a European original, made in Germany, DMM, not a UK original that I have

Once again... Not a big fan of Mould, although I do have 1st US pressings of both Candy Apple Grey and Warehouse and Songs (is that the right title?) But, even so, still found your video most interesting and particularly enjoyed your experiences in Chicago. That musta been a really fun time. I'll hafta drag out those Husker Du albums and give them a listen, it's been probably easily over 20 years since I've heard them 😊 IIRC, I think I really liked the Punkish power and energy of Husker Du.
