I have one by far better than all three of those called the Garden Claw. It has big twisted tines, and a great handle on the top. All you do is turn the top wide handle and the tines rotate forcing the weed out by the roots. no bending, and no pulling. It can also take out great big weeds, which obviously none of those could do. It also does sticker vines across the lawn and is really fast. You can actually watch all the vines moving across the lawn as it collects them all on the tines. Also no moving parts on it to break. Amazing invention. Bought mine 20 year ago, and the only thing that wore off was the paint on the steel tines.

Thanks for this. I have postpartum back pain probably from diastasis recti. I've been wanting to get out in the garden but it just seems overwhelming. You have eased my anxieties a bit by helping me choose the proper tools. Thank you

User error on the Gardtech and Fiskars. You kept stepping on the pinch mechanism on both tools, making the teeth close before it can surround the root properly. Gardtech does have a place to stomp it in, it's the step higher up on the tool. Fiskars you have to push it in the ground with your hands and upper body.

Thanks for both feedbacks. The ground was dryer than usual last summer, and I did happen to try the tools again in my own yard with extra consideration for ensuring the most correct technique post review to make sure I was being fair. The other pullers work OK when the ground has more moisture content but I still stand by the Garden Weasel because torqueing the root ball around the teeth is like almost a perfect hit rate with all sorts of ground conditions and the weed stays wound up until I bring it into the bucket and hit the release plunger. But if you're having great success with your Fiskars or Gtech, then excellent too! I've been looking around at some tools in catalogs here and there but nothing else has piqued my interest- I've also have been quite busy as well lately...

If you can find "The Original" Weed Weasel (it has four tines that run perpendicular to the handle and you kick the tints into the weed rather than down on to the weed) you will be extremely satisficed with the tool's performance! Sadly, Weed Weasel, like so many other companies that produced great products, has discontinued a great tool. thanks for your time and efforts in trying to bring these products to light. BTY, my back is fused at L4-5 and both my hips have been replaced. I live on the Oregon coast where weeds never stop growing!

I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I think the problem you’re having with the Fiskars is I don’t think you’re supposed to step on the lever as you’re pulling it out. Just use the handle to bend it toward the ground until the weed pops out.

You're correct I am not to step on it and I did make other attempts not stepping on it, but not much better luck 😕. I think the ground probably needs more moisture, but now we are way too wet as of today to even want to go out to pull some weeds. 😂

Don't step on the tool as your pulling the weed. That actually releases the mechanism. I found the Grandpas interesting but with my bad back I prefer the adjustable length puller.

How would you compare them by weight? I believe Fiskars is twice as heavy as Grandpa's. As a petite female with a ton of weeds to remove, it'll wear on my muscles with repetitive movement. I get that the video is close-up to show the weed coming out of the ground. It'd also be helpful if the camera was further back to show what parts of your body are maneuvering the tool(s) and how. Thanks for your review.

The Fiskars is awesome… but you weren’t using it correctly. My second choice is Grandpas weeder, as it’s such a simple & robust design!

Any puller will struggle in ground like that....too dry! I've just used Friskars for first time and it worked well.....missing the odd weed ...I'd say 95% successful.

All those tools will work properly if the ground is wet, after the rain.

The ground seemed very dry which makes it harder for the tools to work as the roots are well stuck in the soil. Try again after good rainfall they will be much easier to extract!!

When you don' t step on the pedal and tilt, after you pushed it in the ground, it grabs and works . Works for all the same, get your foot away after it is in the ground. Maybe you should read the manuals better before testing the wrong way.😉

Was it winter? The summer grass turns brown like that in my yard. In winter, or if we don't water.

I think you should master the use of each tool before making a video. This eliminates misleading information. The Fiskars is by far the better tool, but you failed to demonstrate it correctly. Place the tool over the plant with handle straight up (90 degrees to the ground) and the foot lever pointing towards your body. Use your foot to press down, remove your foot, then pull the handle down toward the foot lever keeping pressure. This causes the teeth to bite and hold!! The Grandpa is second only because of manual removal.

Part of making the video on the go is to be able to evaluate how intuitive it is to use the tool which is part of what makes it a great product. Yes you have described the correct mechanism of the fiskars but I actually did play around with them quite a bit even after the video. I will still respectfully disagree and conttinue to find the weasel to be the best because it's knife like teeth with corkscrew mechanism leads to more consistent clean grabs in all sorts of soil conditions and is also more simplistic because of less moving parts. But if you love your Fiskars then that's okay too! Something for everyone.
