We went to Oklahoma a few weeks around and did a walk through. We've been looking for something better than our current setup for a while now; truck campers, tent trailers, teardrops, etc. The guys at Exploration Outfitters know their stuff. And this gear is solid!!! The tent is thicker than any I've seen and the componentss are tough as nails. All that said, we are picking ours up in two weeks. Also, the guys at Exploration outfitters are doing some upgrades to our new JL as well. Great product and great bunch of guys.

I saw these at Overland Expo East 2017 last year and was very impressed - I got home and did some research and was even more impressed. I've looked at a lot of different trailers for exploring the USA and I haven't seen anything else that was built as sturdily or as well thought out as the Patriot campers. That ladder to the roof tent is absolutely genius. I'll be going over them very closely at this years Overland Expo East 2018 in a few weeks and I'm seriously thinking about buying an X2 to tow behind my Land Rover Defender. I'm a retired Manufacturing Engineer for Lockheed so I know a quality product when I see it and these are some great campers. Looking forward to seeing these guys in a week and a half.

This guy is great, I think the US market can learn from the AU caravan market. This guy has pride and it shows in the product. Great presentation and great enthusiasm. The majority of campers from the Indiana abyss are dismal. I give credit to some of the small boutique USA overland trailers but none compare to this. The new Turtlebacks are as close as I have seen. Well done Patriot!

Well done Justin, my Wife and I spent 13 years living and working all over Cape York and the Torres Strait Islands, we were the one's who alerted the Federal and State Government Departments to the Fact that the feral pigs were taking in excess of 95% of the turtle nests, so 800 k of west coast Cape York became my workplace. You know the logistics in that, hey. !! (NOT Greenies, but Environmental Project Management.) IF ONLY I HAD A PATRIOT as a base camp, WOW !!!!!!! With that being said when I'm ready to get a serious off road trailer they will be at the top of my list. I really like all the attention to detail and the solid construction that goes into these trailers, I don't think anyone else compares to be honest.

One of the best designed Offroad / Overlanding Trailers I have seen period. Has everything one would need and not anything extra except quality and durability. Talk about keeping its value. This is a lifetime worth of camping investment. Though many scoff at the price I can get 20 years of use easy out of this system without any issues and that’s hard use. Compare that to others that might be good to last 5 years. If you are looking for inexpensive look to the diy types like the Chinese branded Smittybuilt. Or durable but can diy get an old military trailer. I myself very much am intrigued by this trailer. Looking to do trips that months not just weekend trips and willing to spend on something like this that will make it without issues throughout the whole trip Offroad and offgrid.

I have no idea if 40k is expensive for this. But it has looks of quality and material plus craftsmanship. Ppl forget, you get what you pay for, plus labor isn't cheap anymore. It's almost like looking at a house that is $5 million. It's either you can afford it or not. But don't criticize it. Good craftsmanship cost money in any line of work or product. If you can put out something exactly like this for 20/30% less, why don't you? And sell it like hot cakes! Ppl will buy what makes sense to them and happy. Be happy for them. Or maybe work harder, so you can afford more toys and cristicize less.

Wow! Of course they'd take it to where this guy has. Have to price them out. I just see a lot of systems that could break over time that you might not be able to replace. I don't mind leveling-out a trailer. That's easy peasie. I've been thinking of just re-mounting the axle under the leaf springs or maybe just re-doing the entire suspension on a regular tent trailer (old, used, and cheap). But I'd still much rather have something BUILT to take any beatings I dish out for my truck. It's narrower. It'll go anywhere you can squeeze your tow vehicle. And pulling it is probably like pulling nothing on the highway. Have to look into it.

There are indeed a lot of serious campers in the U.S. who want to be able to go off-road, move camp every day, and have a durable product that will last many decades. Bbut this can surely be delivered for less than $40,000. It's more important to be able to afford the thing in the first place than it is to pass it down to our grand-children. We need something as durable and streamlined as can be, at a price of no more than $10,000. I'm sorry but you've simply priced out the majority of the people who actually want to do extreme remote overland camping. They tend to be passionate gritty people who choose life experiences over riches. Furthermore- having to pop up and put away a canvas tent every time you move camp makes this thing less of an overlander, and more of a luxry pop-up for rich gear-nerds. Other trailer have a sleeping space in the shell of the trailer, and a roof rack to add a tent if more sleeping space is needed. Why not go this route? Don't get me wrong, it's very nice and I would be thrilled to have it- but the reason I even started looking at overland trailers to begin with, is because I have a Jumping Jack jump-up tent trailer. I enjoy it very much, but there is still a lengthy process to moving from camp to camp in the middle of a trip. I decided I wanted something that made the setup process as quick as removing from my truck's hitch, and lowering the leveling jacks. (Which I'm more than happy to do by hand...) Also, as someone who wants to spend a lot of time deep in the back country, I wanted to sleep in a hard shell to feel safer from bears. Not a canvas tent.
@janecasper8463 жыл бұрын
It's an investment. It's a hand made product that will last lifetimes. The tent is up off the ground for bears. Hard shells are cool, but this is a specific product for a specific level of abuse.
@janecasper8463 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I'm still looking for a hard tear drop that I like. It's really hard to make a teardrop to the kind of quality of a canopy or X-1
@barneyh46553 жыл бұрын
The tent can be changed to whatever roof top tent you would like. The X1 usually comes with a pop up, the x2 is smaller and comes with a hard top and the x3 is like a luxury one. the tents on the x1 and x2 can be changed out. the price is due to the engineering that has been put into these to make them the best for handling offroad by a mile. Things like airbag suspension and it being made in Australia where production costs are a bit higher have made the price very high. They are a bit cheaper down in Aus but they are still a luxury item and people only get them if they really need the off road capability or if they have a lot of money. they might have to make it a bit cheaper if there was anything remotely close to this level of capability that was good value
@frankleaney62673 жыл бұрын

Very thorough video review, both Australians and South Africans are clearly ahead in the overlanding market both in design and innovation. The prices on these trailers are too high for the average American outdoorsman. There are a couple of American built offroad/overlanding trailers that will run a 1/3 to 2/3 less than a Patriot Camper or a Conqueror with similar packages. The manufacturers are BCT Trailers and Turtleback Trailers. These trailers can be pulled with smaller 4×4/SUVs. I personally own the BCT Moab Fort XL. I have had it for two years now and have taken to many off-road sites to camp. In fact, I just finish my vacation spent in Moab, Utah area. As for the hitch, there a max coupler that does the same. I use one as well. You should do a review on these manufacturers.

Oscar Briceno true. I have seen Americans spend tons of money on things you wouldn't normally expect them to spend it on. Football fanatics will spend $2000 for a signed super bowl jersey. Sneaker heads will spend $5k on shoes. Nerds will spend $10k on first edition comic books. Yuppies will spend $20k on a Rolex. Gun guys will spend $50k on an NFA full auto machine gun. NASCAR nuts will spend $100k on an RV to park in the in field... ... ... I'm not successful enough yet to afford a $40k toy....but when I am...i would not have any regrets spending $40k on quality products that I can hand down generations... ... ... Some day!!! (Sigh)
@blackers106 жыл бұрын
$40k is a drop in the bucket compared to the cost of those massive Earth Roamer type rigs. The market in Australia is saturated with Chinese made/Australian assembled trailers as our average income isn't substantial enough to go and buy a 40k trailer either. However people buy $60-$90k caravans and $120k Landcruiser Sahara to pull it in their retirement to tour the country so its just a different "thing" to live in really. As a caravan can't get to where these kind of trailers can.(An F truck in Australia is north of $130k due to requiring importation, tax and right hand drive conversion, then the cost of fueling them with our price much higher than the US) I have not personally seen a patriot camper or conqueror on the road here. I have seen them at the expo's but that is all. The $10-20k range trailers are WAAAAAY more popular here in Australia but they come with the compromise of build quality and longevity of materials like the canvas and the chassis and weight due to inferior materials. Roof top tents are still super popular as well as normal ground tents.
@alex.47536 жыл бұрын
I think Australian and American overland markets are a bit different, it seems to me that us aussies mostly go overlanding and touring and going away for a couple nights and going of road. The Americans seem like they prefer to go out do some really crazy trails and then go back to a base camp and it’s more of a trail and track holiday than a journey to go somewhere or see something

@@rogdedodge7258 I’m sure the trailer itself is built like a tank but I still have to buy a grill? And it’s a rinky dink size too. That should come standard along with the ports-shitter. Just saying

Can't Wheelie Rob Ohhhhh Yeahhhhh this things a lottery win list item lol. The second hand market in Australia is starting to get cheaper as the first generation models get older. Apart from winning the lottery, that's the only way I can see myself getting one in a few years.
