The major drawback of the UT27 is the flimsy buckle that attaches the light to the strap... Be super careful adjusting the light angle & opening the case for battery access - the thin plastic is surprisingly weak & cracks easily, rendering it useless..

I've just bought this light, I'm not sure if there has been a mid life update, but my light remembers the brightness level each colour emitter was last at until the light is witched off, so you can toggle between say, warm white low and cool white high with a single button press.

Thanks .great review.this has a great output 500L prespect to run time . Most of those hd light has high turbo but low in max output .500L is good for bike trailing .amazing thing is how like this is comparing to most mount bike light

Has the hinge been improved? The original hinge broke easily. Went through 3 units where the hinge broke easily. Thanks

Hi Nitecore team, 2 quick Q's: -I'm assuming it can be charged via usb from a power bank, BUT can it be used at the same time? Or will turn itself off when connected to the USB power bank? -when the battery is getting low, will it shut down suddenly from full brightness? Or it will get dimmer and dimmer until the battery goes flat? Thanks a lot, depending on the answers, this might be the winner for me, especially re. the use whilst charging.

The battery can be charged via power bank, but you wont be able to use the flashlight because you need to remove the battery to charge it. From our use case, when battery depletes you can use the full modes until the battery dies.

An important difference you missed to point out is that the old UT27 had a spot- and floodlight whereas on the new ones the throw is equal of both. Also, what I think is better on the new UT27 that the lowest setting is lower than on the old one.

So can this UT 27 use any of the rechargeable triple A batteries with the higher capacity from nitecore?

Assuming it's AAA sized, yes, I know that a lot of people try with 14440s and they are not compatible

The lowest it goes is either 100lm or the red light modes!

What are you talking about man @7:45 , the older UT27 DOES have a battery indicator, just press the button briefly and the red light will flash to confirm the battery status. Are you really a Nitecore representative?!
