Finally an actual guide that doesn't just reiterate the in game combination guide

This treasure system is one of the major reasons why I want a RE5 Remake next, I absolutely loved how it worked!

Just a tip: Later on the Novistadors (aka flying bugs) have a high chance of dropping sapphires, the blue diamonds. So if possible, save all the low value treasures until you get a bunch of sapphires to slot into them and save the other gems for pricier treasures

There most certainly is a correct way of slotting gems and selling the treasures. Almost all gem drops are guaranteed and there are specific points where you should avoid selling big slotters for the difference that can be made up through 10 more minutes of gameplay. This is a difference of around 500k+ in a playthrough. An example is going for the extra 8 k on a crown not realizing the value you lose out on other treasures by saving the two beryl and yellow diamond. The slots in treasures were not chosen at random. The devs purposely tempt you to rush selling off a treasure at your next merchant and then will give you optimal gems for that treasure just beyond that merchant.

I feel like another thing to consider is the amount of treasure items you get in the entire game. If you spend 3 red beryls and 2 yellow diamonds on a single crown, it is highly unlikely you will have enough of them for the other 2 crowns you can get. Using a 5 color setup pretty much allready guarantees you have enough reds and yellows for the other crowns as well. I wonder what the mathematically best choice for all treasures in the game would be, excluding random treasure drops, since those are not reliable.

It's better to use the highest multiplier possible. The general rule that I use: 2-3 slots: same color 4-5 slots: different colors I only use diamonds and beryls on 4-5 slots. The novistadors also drop a ton of sapphires which makes rubies unnecessary most of the time.

You actually want to maximize the multiplier, not the price of the treasure. Bigger multiplier means you got more out of each part, and you can still sell the unslotted gems. You are correct in that you shouldn't waste the top gems on low multiplier treasures.

While it is true that the final value of the treasures can be more using same colored gems for instance the crown being worth more with the red and the yellow gems, you lose out on a LOT of value by doing it this way. Your best value will absolutely always come from the highest bonus that the particular treasure will provide. Yes 100k is less than 108k but your profit is actually larger due to the fact that the bonus pesetas are a 100% increase in value as opposed to only a 80% value.

THE CHOICE IS YOURS! Was what ringed in my head when this mechanic was introduced in the game, really gave you the freedom on what to put where and whenever

Sure you get more money from the yellow and red crown, but you get less value from the inlaid gems

Chapter 10 is when you first encounter Novistadors (camoflauged bugs) and they have a pretty generous drop rate for sapphires given how many you end up fighting. It wasn't uncommon for me in my several playthroughs to have like 10 more sapphires than rubies even though they're worth more. For lower tier treasures or those with multiple circle slots after chapter 10 (not counting the crown), I'd suggest just dumping a lot of those sapphires into those. You still get a good amount of value for the treasure while also saving more of your yellow diamonds/rubies for 5 color/quintet treasure combos.

Save your high value gems (red beryls and yellow diamonds) for high multipliers and use everything else for the worse pieces when you have spares. 5 color bonus is the highest multiplier so has the best value for the crown. Even though it is worth less than the duo/trio (100k vs 108k), it saves you 2 red beryls and 1 yellow diamond that you can use in an ornate necklace instead.

Considering prioritizing the exclusive upgrade tickets, there will be at least 15 spinels left to spend on whatever you want)

There totaly is an optmal way to use your gems. What you want to do is to always get the highest modifier, the total value matters very little cause the extra money you get is from the modifier. The reason why doing sub optimal combos sometimes net more money is because the base value of certain gems is higher than others but since you can sell the gems unslotted anyway you are never loosing that value, what you get from slotting them is extra money from the multipliers. Take the ornate necklace for example, all reds sell for 59500, out of witch 24500 is extra money you are getting for that specific combo, two red two yellow sell for 64500 however only 21500 of that total was extra money, therefore the all red combination is better.

Actually the quintet bonus is 5 of the same color, the 5 different colors is a 5 color bonus which is better than quintet because the quintet is 1.9x and the 5 color bonus is 2x 👍

Here's what pretty much everyone gets wrong about the treasure combination system: The highest value combination you can do is not the greatest value you can get out of the treasure. What do I mean by this? The gems aren't the only thing being affected by the multiplier you get from the gem combo, the base treasure is also affected by this. This means that if you do the duo&trio combo on a corwn, the actual crwon itself is going to end up with a lower value than if you do the best multiplier combo (which is 5 colors). Also if you do duo&trio or quintet on a crown, you burn 3 red beryls (the most rare gem) and also get less value out of said beryls. Since the goal is to get the highest possible value out of ALL your treasures and gems, the aim should be to apply the greatest possible multiplier to as many of them as possible, not to firgure out which combination adds up to the most for an individual treasure. I've found 3 crowns in the game, so instead of spending 3 beryls on 1 crown (costing you 9 in total), you spread them out across 3 crowns and make them all 5 colors, you now have 3 crowns getting their highest value along with the beryls, diamonds and other gems getting max value, and you now have more beryls and diamons to make other high value combos like red quarted on the necklaces, 4 colors on 1 or 2 necklaces, as well as a red trio on a lynx which is worth using a beryl for since the lynx has a much higher base value than even the necklace despite having fewer slots, so you want to get the lynx's base vlaue up as much as possible. Chalice of atonement can then be 3 alexandrite since that gives it it's max value same as if you'd used 3 beryls, and you will have enough diamonds to do a couple of yellow trios as well. Saphires become abundant once you reach the ball room and should be used for every 2 round slots and almost every 3 round slots, emeralds should be used on speldid bangle to max it's value while avoiding wasting the higher value rectangular gems on a low multiplier, and etravagant clock should NEVER be a red duo for the same reason. only ever use emeralds on the clocks (you can use saphires for the round one since you'll have more than enough).

Whenever I use 5 different color gems for the elegant crown or 4 for the ornate necklace it feels like I'm putting in the infinity stone In the gauntlet lmaoo

On my second playthrough, I've noticed the alexandrite is pretty rare too. So try to save them so you can complete the three crowns.

I disagree, there is most certainly a right and wrong way to sell your treasures. The difference it makes will affect people who wanna do multiple playthroughs to unlock all items or NG+. The rare gem drops are pre-determined and so are the treasures, the best way to maximize the value of your gems is to get the maximum multiplier from the in-game guide. Which means, using the yellow diamonds on the crowns is a big mistake and costing you money. Here's the best combination for highest value treasures: Elegant Crown: Use one of each colour Golden Lynx: Use 3 Red ones Ornate Necklace: 4 Red ones Chalice of Atonement: Use 3 Alexandrite Butterfly Lamp: Use 3 diamonds Other than these, the remaining treasures with 2 gem slots are low value. Use your lower value gems on them ONLY if you feel like you're stuck and can't continue without a specific upgrade/item to buy. If you can continue without selling them, good, do that and sell the treasures only at the final chapter without the gems. The point of this is to save the money and gems for your next playthrough to get Infinite Rocket Launcher as soon as possible. If unlocking all items or multiple playthroughs are not your concern then the entire gem business you can safely ignore.

At first I admit I didn't like how each thing like the crown or necklaces didn't have specific dedicated bonus parts to put in them. But now I get why they did it that way. Take the beerstein in the original, you may be sitting in it a while and never find all 3 gems bc you overlooked something and now you can never get full value Plus, you may have gotten all 3 and you know for certain ok this is done can sell it. But this system adds a reward for players that could be patient and delay gratification bc instead of selling a mask with 3 random gems you can save those gems for a necklace that is just a little bit further ahead then get TWICE as much money

In the original the treasure was pretty cool when you slotted the correct gems into it. I remember the name of the crown changing to the Salazar family crown when I did so. This game does not do the same. It was also cool to save all your treasure until the end so you could buy the OP Chicago typewriter for 1,000,000 gold. I believe if you spent gold very sparingly you could afford the gun after one regular playthrough.

I both like and dislike the new treasure system. Over all I think its really good I just end up sitting there taking way too long to decide which gems I want to use haha. Very interesting video

Remember, you're multiplying gem prices, not the treasure itself. Base Treasure will have a stable value with any combination, its the slots you need to take note of. Generally, never use the red gem, only use it for the one specific treasure that allows one circular and square shape slot for one gem and one beryl for x1.2 bonus because that's the best you can get out of that treasure. For two and three slot treasures with circular slots, always use three blue gems bonus, since you get most blue gems in the game from Novis that red gems become obsolete, yellows must always be used in a pair in only four and five slot treasures with red beryls, three slot squares are for purple amethyst only and things like the lynx is for green emeralds

There is literally a value bonus guide in the inlay screen. Press square on ps5/4 and it shows you all the values of the possible combos. Its like Yahtzee.

best combination for crown is 5 colors. 3rb and 2yd maybe the highest price but not efficient. the other 2rb and 1yd can be divert to another treasure.

the five colors would eventually give you more than 2 colors of yellow gem and red, see 100,000 vs 108,000 that's only 8k more with the crown but if you spend the yellow and red that you're suppose to use in the crown to another piece then you'll eventually have 110,000-150,000+ more

When you are overflowing with gems you can do whatever you want, if you are not, i still think that the best options are the ones that have the highest multiplier by the combination, meaning Five colors for 5 slots, 4 of the same with 4 slots, 3 of the same with 3 slots and 2 of the same with 2 slots, that's because getting to multiply the value of the gemsand the treasure itself means you are getting the most money you can from that specific item and it's parts, it's not just about final value of the treasure, is how efficient the price is, if you get more ptas for every single treasure, then you're making the most money with the least investment. But as i said earlier having 3 or 4 of the same color is hard, for some treasures it means using berils with ruby, and you want to save the berils for the highest multiplier you can get for it, that being five colors or quartet, they're not worth using in elegant clock.

Good video, the only one I knew about was the Y-R to crown max. You can knock $400k off the Infinite launcher if you have the Rocket Launcher discount charm. I don’t see this mentioned often

Best multiplier is best. If you're not crunched for money save your treasure turn in for as long as you can and do combinations when you have best available multipliers, you'll get much more back using multipliers efficiently even though your grand totals look more attractive using just the best gems in each slot

Here my guide for a whole run without the treasure dlc. 2 Crowns all color 5 gems, 2 necklaces all red gems, 2 butterfly lamps all yellow, all masks and 2 slot tresures that are round all sapphires you get plenty from the bugs, Lynx all red gems, all 2 slot square items emeralds, 1 chalice all emeralds and the other 2 chalices all Alexandrites. Should be just enough red gems to do either all the clock red or all the clock but 1 all red. When you start NG+ do the same thing again but you will have enough yellow diamonds to do one mask. I had so many extra Sapphires from the bugs I sold like 80k worth straight to the merchant.

Red beryl and yellow gem is the expensive and the rarest. On your 1st playthrough is a waste if you doing 108k on 1 crown. So 5 colors is still the best way.

I have a money making tip! If you buy a bunch of first aid sprays in assisted mode and put them in storage, after you beat the game you can switch to professional mode and sell them for a lot more

FINALLY I HAVE THE ANSWERS. First time playing through RE4 watched my sibling play it when I was really young. I was doing way too much math while playing and streaming. You're awesome for this and all the other RE4 stuff.

You also need to keep your "Investment" in mind, i.e. the value of the gemstones and pieces if you sold them separately. For the quintet on the crown, the gemstones are worth 31K and the crown is 19K. That means you "pay" 50K and can sell it for 100K, so your profit is 50K. On the 2 yellow 3 red combination, your invest is 60K, the final price is 108K, your profit is 48K. The quintet yields 2K more profit. However, the other combination means you can sell more of your most expensive gems at a very high multiplier.

or if you are lazy and have the beettle charm, you can play on Assisted until the last Merchant before Saddler, sell everything you wont use against Saddler and buy First Aid Spray, send every spray to your storage and buy even more until you have no more money.. Then after finishing the game on Assisted, start a NG+ on Hardcore (equip the Beettle charm) and sell all Sprays from the storage, you'll have enough money to buy and max out every weapon ;)

I'll be honest I hate this system for treasures because you can map out a system for every gem pick up and the most money possible and because I don't know it I probably won't sell any treasures until the last merchant and then formulat a spreadsheet to sell everything at the most value 😭

I personally focus on getting the multiplier bonus as high as possible with each treasure. That way, you get the best potential value, even for the cheaper gems inset. It's easy to think you're not getting the best from your treasure, in the short term, because the actual value is lower than, say, if you swapped a yellow gem for a red. However, by doing that, you're depreciating the yellow gem. And also not getting the max potential value from the more expensive gems. Of course, the decision then just comes down to what gems to inset into each treasure. Treasure like the Extravagant Clock and Lynx, I always go for the Duo and Trio bonus, respectively, for example (Red Beryl & Red Gems).

Selling at subpar multipliers to get 'more' in the short-term ramps up exponentially over the course of a whole playthrough. That 10% per tier adds to the total value of the item, not just the gems, so every time you sell an item non-optimised, you are losing overall value from the item bonus. For example, a 3 slot item that has a Trio of Diamond/Sapphire/Ruby may sell for X, but the difference between selling for a triple Ruby (which is worth less than collective value of the trio of varied gems) is less, due to the overall multiplier. Now, it's not quite as clear-cut due to needing knowledge of how many static drops of each gem are available, but irrespective of that, the overarching rule is governed by optimising as per the chart. As to exactly which gems should go in what treasure; that needs to be assigned based on the availability of gems throughout the game. An argument of need vs. value could then be made, based on whether there are points where need at the time, trumps the overall efficiency of saving for optimized value.

I just go for different colors always except for the 2 slot items. Works just fine.

Best dividing line for me is honestly the amount of slots. 4 or more should ALWAYS get the highest value, multi color set. This is because they have access to a higher multiplier and tend to have a higher base value which is what affects the value the most. 3 slots an lower should never get the highest value gems unless it hase a high base value and even then the multi color may be still woth considering but you may even get good value from a red baryl and two rupees like with the lynx. Two and lower only use if your hurt for cash or have gems to spare. Thats how i see it. I would love to see someone do an extensive break down on how to get the most value in one fresh run.

So, I never even noticed that duo and trios give a bigger bonus than 2-3 colours (was always putting different coloured gems in treasures). Only noticed that after chapter 13 and kinda felt like a moron.

1. 1-4 slots go 1 color. 5 slots go 5 colors. 2. Save enough red gems for treasure with slots of both shapes.

Any gem that’s yellow has a higher value so if you can add a bunch of yellow gems your golden

I've seen various guides on treasures, but I wonder is there a guide that lists ALL the treasures that we can get from single NG playthrough? From what I've seen the quantity of Saphires/Emeralds/Beryls can vary depending on what drops from Brutes, bugs and red zealots. And how many regenerators we kill/skip.

I got confused with the crown, thinking a Ruby and Red Beryl would count as 2 seperate gems, wondering why it only added up to 98,000. Later on I realised it was because the Ruby and Red Beryl count as the same colour, but by the point I found the crown I still had 3 Red Beryl/2 Yellow Diamond for the best combo possible.

Chalices are quite rare so I recommend quintet and you only got 8k less but way much easier to make

If you want to maximize your plan should be to get the big multipliers on the expensive treasure and gems. Even if it sells for less it may be worth it if you just sell the gem as is

Eigentlich macht es mehr Sinn auf den Multiplikator zu schauen und nicht einfach den Gesamtwert unterschiedlicher Kombinationen zu vergleichen. Gelbe 'Diamanten' sind sehr wertvoll, was sich bei einem hohen Bootsfaktor natürlich noch höher im Gesamtwert auswirkt, aber nicht automatisch das maximale an cash rausholt

I always go with what has the highest multiplier

The highest raw value is misleading. The potential 108k for the crown, for example, is actually losing value from the 3 more expensive gems; the yellow diamond and 2 red beryls have a raw value of 25k compared to the 15k of the sapphire, emerald and purple alexandrite used for the 5 colour bonus, but you only gain 8k of that 10k difference. Going for the optimal bonus essentially adds value to the lower value gems.

Nope for the crown the quintet is MUCH better ..that way you can save the yellow diamond and red byrells for smaller treasures Edit: my bad you ended up agreeing with me lol

What we need is a spreadsheet that shows item and the value of each gem combo

If you go 2 yellow and 3 red on the crown (to get 108k) you are wasting part of the multiplier. It's 100% better to go with 1 of each gem so you get the 2.0x multiplier, and finish with 100k. It's 8k less ptas than the 2 yellow and 3 red, but you're not wasting higher end gemstones in order to get an extra 8k.

Had no idea there was even a difference…I would just go based on what was on hand at the time
