We thank UK retailer Peter Tyson for their assistance in providing a retail version of the 55-inch LG G3 for review and if you want to support our video reviews and channel and are looking for a new TV, then please visit their e-commerce website at www.petertyson.co.uk
Peter Tyson is offering AVForums viewers an exclusive £100 OFF the LG OLED55G36LA until the end of June 2023. Just use the voucher code AVF100 at checkout. petertyson.co.uk/lg-oled55g36...
The G3 is the flagship 4K model from LG for 2023 and it features for the first time Micro Lens Array MLA technology which is a layer of billions of micrometre-sized convex lenses fixed to the pixels that capture and direct light usually lost within a traditional OLED panel and redirects this towards the viewer.
By redirecting this light towards the viewer, LG has boosted brightness and viewing angle stability enormously. This is married to the Brightness Booster Pro processing that uses a brightness-enhancing algorithm, which improves screen brightness and colour by analysing and adjusting the brightness of each scene in real-time and adding more specular details and much better just above-black detail to enhance HDR performance.
In this video, we give you our review of the LG G3 OLED TV as well as comparisons against the Samsung S95C QD-OLED and the QN95C MiniLED TVs.
We use Portrait Displays’ Calman colour calibration software (www.portrait.com) a Murideo Seven Generator and a Klein K-10A meter profiled to a JETI Spectraval 1511-HiRes spectroradiometer for measurement and calibration.

Both the G3 and the S95C are wonderfully good TVs. Anyone saying that one crushes the other is either a fanboy or someone validated their purchase. No TV is perfect, and I personally find it easier to live with the problems of the S95C, than the G3. It’s why I bought it. But yes, these TVs really are the best sets ever made effectively. HDR looks just breathtaking

If money is no option, then I’d go for the G3 as it’s got the better features overall for gaming and watching movies. The picture quality is easily on a par with the A95K and you get the 4 2.1 HDMI ports. If you’re on a budget, then the G2 is still a great TV, but it’s not as bright as the G3 and A95K.

What has happened to our world, in which the Samsung now produces the most pure and natural image. Some reviewers can't get it out of their mouths yet, others generously admit it, especially if the reference monitor also indicates it. What if Samsung is more natural than Panasonic, and also costs 2000 euros less for the 65 inch. That would be really bad. So Sony and Panasonic prices down please.

You can tune the S95C to have the same deeper blacks if you want that higher contrast look of the LG. You can't tune the LG to have more colour volume. In saying that, if you don't want to fiddle around with your TV much, the LG might be better out of the box. Unless of course you are gaming. In which case the LG requires more fiddling.

The details of the tv in cinema mode are great so thank you for that but its never a fair comparison. Considering your 20 years experience you still don't get the extremely basic concept that we don't all watch our Tvs in cinema mode. Perhaps thats why the Tv manufacturers have more than one mode .The majority of people and this might come as a surprise to you watch thier tvs in other modes. yes there are circumstances where tvs are watched in cinema but this is not the only mode. So why not a fair and more helpful review by reviewing the tvs in all modes so that when we look at buying these tvs we know how their going to do in all modes that we will watch them in . Its a Shane that your not more open to the concept that not all people want to watch their tvs in cinema mode and people also want other options for their tv watching. Maybe year 21 might be the year when you learn something new. Fingers crossed

We stick to the standards used to produce and master the actual TV and film content you watch on TV. This means that colours and greyscale are correct and that you see it as it was intended to be seen. You are free to use whatever picture presets you want and they exist so manufacturers can sell the most shiny and garishly vivid picture seen on a shop floor, but you really shouldn't watch a TV that way, you are missing so much. Content creators use standards for a reason, but most users want to do their own thing and set their TV by personal preference, which is fine, but we don't review on personal preference, we use repeatable, measurable standards that are a fair and accurate representation of what the TV is capable of on a level playing field. If it can't hit the standards and show content as it was intended to be seen, then it is not doing its job correctly. Anyone who just reviews a TV based on their personal preference settings is not telling you anything about how the TV actually performs, they are telling you what they prefer it to look like, not that it is correct or accurate. Thanks for taking the time to watch and reply to the video, I hope you learnt something from it.
@NexGenTek
@NexGenTek 11 ай бұрын
@@avforums Maybe you should do more than just standard testing you'll reach more people who just don't care for the standards and want to see the TV's maxed out. Sure there's a standard but it's still your preference to review it without adding any other preset to the review why not both? Then you're not showing what it's truly capable of or what it can be for the average Joe going for picture pop. Doesn't have to be 20 min long just a snippet would be appreciated. Just a thought from a normal consumer who couldn't careless about standards.

Every other reviewer said the motion and upscaling is better on samsung, this guy says that lg is better. Every other reviewer points that dse on lg is bad, no dse on qd-oled. Yes, lg is slighty brighter, but at the cost of colors. This panel is first gen qd-oled, Samsung want to clear the old ones first. Sony a95l will come only with second gen qd-oled panel, with better motion and upscaling than both lg and samsung. Qd-oled is the newer, better, evolved oled panel!
