My friend, I'm a 72 year old 1%er. I hung up my colors a long time ago. In my older years I have taken up the hobby of building motorized bicycles and my current project is an in tank frame, shocks forward and back, with an 80cc ported racing motor and a 21mm pwk carb and have been chasing down tutorials left and right and as of date I have found this video to be one of the best. I just love how you explain everything in such depth, and how you change all of your personalized settings for your bike just to show what it acts and sounds like to help your viewers. Your a great dirt bike mechanic. But I think you should do more riding videos also at the track feel like that would be awesome!!

Cameron....if you have trouble hearing the cutting out on the needle in the mid-range, try dragging the rear brake slightly or heading it up an incline. That will bring out the burbling in mid-range richness. Really a super video....best I've seen on jetting.

Best carb tuning video on KZfaq. Most videos only cover resolving certain problems, where you cover most scenarios. I’ve watched a few of your videos today and it’s been a massive help. Hey Cameron. I have been working on and riding Dirtbikes almost 37 years. You by far have one of the best positive attitudes around. Your teachings on jetting throughout the video is spot on. Lots of people.do not know the correct way to jet amd blow top ends left n right. It truly is more than just replacing pilot n main. The needle is extremely important along with the air screw verse knowing when you need to up size or down size the Pilot. Also worn slide and other small air leaks go without being recognized as a possibility of cause. BBBRRRRRAAAAAAPPPPPPP!! BRAPPP

Excellent video and masterful instruction. There have been a couple other KZfaq videos trying to explain carb jetting. But just when they finish telling what the jet or needle looks like or how it can be removed, they stop. So glad I found this video, I'm trying to fine tune my jetting on a kdx200, reading and learning about it online is good, but when there is a video like this with all the info & step by step guide how to do it, plus being able to hear the actual differences in rich or lean conditions is great. Very informative video, I wish this was out when I got my first two stroke. One thing I didn't hear before making jetting changes is along with having a new plug and clean air filter I to check the intake boot for cracks, especially in older bikes and also ensure the clamps are tight before you do a preliminary test. I also have to say the Lectron is awesome. I got tired of messing with jetting because of the extreme elevation and temp changes I ride in. This this is awesome, I only made a small initial adjustment when I got it last summer and have ridden it through the winter and from 3000 ft to over 10000 feet with no adjustment and no sponge. Thanks for the video, I'm sure that took alot of effort to make.

Most helpful video I’ve seen. It helps a lot being able to hear the difference vs someone explaining the sounds verbally or in writing.

Hey Cameron great video as always! The part about the float bowl screws stripping or chewing out is spot on, mikuni and a lot of other screws/bolts on a Japanese parts/bikes are JIS - Japanese Industrial Standard and if you use a Phillips screwdriver you can easily cam out and chew up the screw. There is normally a small dot embossed on the screw head to confirm, but if in doubt and a Phillips driver is starting to chew it, stop and use the correct driver, available from Japan and it saves so much hassle drilling out screws/bolts

Cameron, love the videos. Thanks a ton for all the great info. I’ll be ordering pats through your link in the future for sure. I’ve got a 2006 RM250 modified for single track trails: FMF Gnarly & TC2, 10oz flywheel weight, Moose reed spacer... I live at 6000’, I ride from 4-10,000’, mostly 7-9000’ in summer when it’s hot and dry. I bought the bike used locally, stock pipe and silencer. Stock jetting is 50 Pilot, 172 Main. When I bought it it had 48 pilot, 168 main. Needle clip was in the middle position. Initially after my trail mods, the pilot air screw was 3.5-4 turns out. The bike ran good except for hesitation 0-1/8 throttle. I went to 45 pilot and raised the clip one position (I know I broke the cardinal rule). Idle was good with air screw at 1.5-2 turns out but still some hesitation. I went down to 42 pilot air screw and the hesitation improved and was pretty much gone but the bike had trouble starting after riding and would bog and stall unless given lots of throttle. Then I dropped the clip back down to the middle position today and the hesitation is terrible. I’m not sure where to go next...??? The hard part is we have really tight single track here and I’m in the very bottom of the rpms and throttle most of the time, so I notice the hesitation. Listening to your bike ig sounded similar at 0-1/8 throttle but you never spent any time there; you quickly twisted it open through the range. The rest of my throttle range is good, crisp and pulls hard. I’d be curious if you hoped on your bike and tried to putt around in higher gears at minimal throttle what it would sound/run like. What do you think I should do next? Lectron carb??? BTW fuel ratio is 50:1. Thank you!
