It always blows my mind how warm this thing keeps my butt.

I feel the same way! Works great for my feet and calves in the hammock as well!

The Z Seat is one of my favorite pieces of gear. One thing to note is that it does tend to lose some of its thickness over the years
@MattyOutdoors5 жыл бұрын
i was wondering about the thickness issue. But, its cheap enough to replace in a few years if need be

Get a Russian army surplus one - they have a pocket so you can replace the original pad or add to the thickness of the seat with a piece cut from a gym mat. They also have an elasticated belt so you don't leave the mat behind when you stand up. Plus they're about 1/4 of the price!

Also nice to have some added padding on my back for my UL backpack! Multi purpose items are the best items.

the new pack doesn't have a back pad??
@mr.buddy.morris5 жыл бұрын
Matty Outdoors it’s got a 1/4 inch sewn in foam pad. But more padding on the back isn’t ever a bad thing ;) figure if I’m hauling the zseat around I might as well make use of it when moving.

Thats alright then! I know theres some of those ultra UL packs that require you to carry a foam pad for back support
@kyfisher36622 жыл бұрын
i wish they would make them with a more reflective surface for when using it to shield your cooking

I think that would inevitably invite condensation for someone like myself, using for a sit pad or foot insulation in my hammock. generally, anything reflective doesn't breathe well.

Can you recommend a good alternative to the z seat, since there are none in stock any more.
@MattyOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, any cheap foam sit pad will do the trick. Prior to the z seat, I was using a piece of Wanda's sleeping pad I had trimmed off

The Therm-a-rest Z seat item is now "unavailable" everywhere and impossible to buy new anywhere. Even online retailers like Amazon no longer carry it and according to them they " don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."

thats a bummer!

Silver side up or down?
@MattyOutdoors3 жыл бұрын
I usually use silver side up, but haven't noticed a difference either way. Its not shiny enough for the silver side to act as a reflector
