I just did Stranger and its spectacular. It will be uploaded in the next day or so. Musically it is pretty similar to a few bands I also review from the metal world. Very interesting.

@@PrymalChaos definitely for many, wasn’t the case for me at all. Not a criticism! There’s just so much more to his artistry & you’re missing out on it, or could be if only looking at the extremes.

@@lolawants2008 I'm glad to hear you say that there's more to him. I don't care for extreme ... anything, really. I'd seen a couple of brief clips of Dimash performances that showcased his extreme vocals. Big turnoff for me, but the name constantly crops up all over KZfaq and I decided I ought to give a fair hearing in case their might be something I like in his work. So I chose a reactor I like (PrymalChaos) and chose a Dimash video more or less at random. I appreciate his vocal flexibility, power, range, etc. Extraordinary! But for me this is a kind of novelty performance, showing off hard-to-fathom talents and abilities. Interesting to see once in a blue moon, kinda like going to the circus to see people with amazing abilities. But I don't want to attend a circus every day, or even every year. So I was about to swear off Dimash entirely. But if you can point me to a couple of videos that show what more there is to his artistry, I'd like to check 'em out and maybe appreciate this special young man better.

@@sudelaine8653 there are unbelievable vocal gymnastics in many of his performances. He’s got a gift like no other. I’ll include some that do have those, but it isn’t the _point_ of those performances. There are others without any, but they are the minority. However, specifically Opera 2 is a cover of a song that is built this way & he simply had fun with it. I personally wouldn’t even pick this song in his top 25… He’s got pure heart & soul he puts into his music, regardless of the vocal ranges too. Pure heart, a prayer for the world, see ‘Ave Maria’ from New Wave 2021. It’s not the Ave Maria you know, but a new composition. I’m not saying it’s not vocally impressive, it’s what heaven must sound like to me. A more simple song, he learned a night before his concert in Ukraine, his last of his 1st world tour before lockdown ended it abruptly- he sang a Ukrainian folk song, a love song to Mother, & he sang it to his own mother in the audience (you will see the camera on her a lot). It is simple & beautiful, called ‘Marigolds’. In this same concert you must see ‘Autumn Strong’- yes it does have some vocal moments that should take your breath away but song with intense heart & nuance. It is in Mandarin, from the Kyiv concert in his red suit it is just exquisite. It is a cover song, about a famous Chinese born actress who it turned out was secretly Japanese & during WW2 it was discovered, she was ostracized & deported to Japan, sad story, beautiful melancholy song. Kyiv performance specifically is out of this world. From same concert please watch ‘Know- Vocalise’. It is a Vocalise performance of a song he’s done prior, but quite different & just great. I also hope you see Adai+Daididau, from his Bastau concert. This is a traditional kazakh folk song- he is on a mission to carry his culture & share it with the world. His Bastau concert was his first full concert, a dream come true for him, 40,000 of his fans came from all over the world to his home country, & he gets emotional with this performance & the crowd. Beautiful. And Daybreak from Bastau also- a song in Mandarin he covers, about a true story of a tragic train car accident where a boy is orphaned. The original singer wrote the song & ended up adopting the little boy. This is both heart & mind blowing vocals. Sinful Passion from New Wave (giving you specific performances), Love is Like a Dream (look for version in burgundy suit), Adagio from Singer competition… there are so many… I hope you come back & tell me what you think after seeing a few, I hope you’ll at least watch those 1st five suggestions:Ave Maria New Wave; Marigolds, Autumn Strong, Know- from Kyiv concert.. And Adai+Daididau from Bastau (Adai is a short instrumental in which he and many Kazakhs play the Dombra- national instrument of Kazakhstan, leads into Daididau). I know 5 songs is a lot if you’re not sure you’re interested, but you will know if you have no interest or not.. it’s just that he is so unique, 1 or 2 doesn’t really cut it. Honorable mention is ‘Ikanaide’ from Tokyo Jazz Festival- the song Autumn Strong is actually the Mandarin remake of this Japanese song, similar but different lyrics, & completely different in every other way from his Autumn Strong performance. Both understated & not, like only Dimash can do.

@@sudelaine8653 also I’m with you, before Dimash I didn’t care for extreme vocals or big vocal runs, his artistry changed that for me though. This song opera 2 though is just meant for that. I also love his quieter songs. I’ll add some of the even quieter ones, I wasn’t sure how to spell them so I’ll have to come back to this in a bit. Hopefully you can reply here so I can find your reply, as youtube is about to disappear your notification as it’s been 4weeks. Then I can return later with the “smaller” songs

Compared to the stuff that I usually review (more extreme heavy metal) it may be considered pop, however I do understand how diverse he is as a performer. Simply unmatched!

@@PrymalChaos He knew he couldn't win, rules were that no foreigner could take 1st place, he was invited as a wild card and went for the exposure, 600,000000 people in China tuned in, watched Dimash -rest is history ...rules were changed following year and Jesse J won 2018 ...and Dimash invited again as a guest performer, he sang Hello ...

I too love his Singer 2017 performances, and listen to them regularly (though mostly through reaction videos), but his voice has definitely matured since then. Not that it wasn’t amazing before, but I can detect added strength and stability now, especially in his riffs and runs. On a side note, it annoys me when reactors don’t show his performances through to the end because the reactions from the other performers are usually priceless.

@@debbienockels3796 plus all the little moments that get missed, one reactor just cut off the whole ending of Opera 2 where Dimash's dad was hidden in the audience. He's actually gone back and just reacted to that bit and he was so glad he did because of how much it revealed to him about the kind of person Dimash really is.

@@debbiemorgan859 - I’ve seen that too, not often thankfully, but it’s a shame since that part is really touching. And isn’t that the clip where Sandy and Tia greet Dimash when he returns to the backroom by trying to sing the high parts of the song? Or am I confusing that with something else?
