Today I highlight one of my favorite ways to catch a walleye. It isn't just my favorite way. It is simply one of the most effective ways to catch a walleye all season long. The Acme Hyper Rattle has quickly become one of my favorite lures all season long. It is extremely effective when fish get into deeper water patterns. In this video I go over the how and when. Thanks for watching and if you want to pick some of these up check out the link in the description. Thanks

Great Video. I'm curious about your preferred knot/connection for this type of aggressive fishing. It seems to me that it would have to be well designed to stand up to that snap over and over. How often do you need to re-tie?

Thanks Tom. Really enjoy all your videos. I’ve been getting more into snap jigging. You seem to like purple baits. I fish a Reservoir that is usually algae/stained a lot of the summer. Do you switch to another color like chartreuse or pink in low vis situations or do you stick with purple most of the time?

Hey Tom, always enjoy your vid's! Not only does the lure look like a jigging rap, but the way you jerk them back is exactly the same. So do you ever use the Jigging Raps? What is the big difference between them? I about to go to a Walleye hotspot (Banks Lake) in Washington, and there is a HUGE flat just like what you were fishing, and I am going to really work it with both Jigging Raps and Blade Baits... From the 90's as a Guide on the Mighty Columbia, I was in on the beginning of the Walleye fishery and never learned how to fish with Blades or Jigging Raps, I was strictly a jig/worm or Bottom Walker/spinner guy but have recently seen just how good blades can be. When my huge stock of Jigging Raps are depleted, I'll have to give your lure a try!

Tom, love this video. I currently use Jigging Rapalas, but I am not getting the amount of bites that you seem to get. Will have to try some Hyper Rattles. The rattling feature apparently adds another element to their appeal. Question: your snap jigging style is very aggressive. Do you have any problem with line wear or abrasion as a result? Seems like there is a lot of wear and tear on the line. Also, are you tying directly to the lure with braid? Using a snap?

I'm game. Anything that keeps me from buying live bait is a go for me. I've caught many on the jigging rap and have some hyper glides but have never seen one that heavy. I'll look into one, or a few. Oh by the way, you should patent that "ripping sound." I'm not sure if that was air moving or not but it ramped up the hype mode for me every time I heard it. What good is aggressive fishing without the audible interference eh? I like the year round effectiveness of this method as well. I do the same with trolling in the summer. When everyone else is doing .05 to 1mph I'm ramping up between 2.25 and 3mph when I troll in the heat. Just goes to show that "reaction bite" is king- why waste time and money trying to feed em?
