What does the trick, and extremely well, is dishwasher detergent. Just add some (a tbsp. maybe? didn't measure) dishwasher detergent to the Chemex pot, fill the bottom section of the pot with hot water, and then let the mixture sit for a little while (I'd say at least 15 min.--didn't measure that either), and voilá! So simple and so effective.

Is it just me or does it look almost the same before and after cleaning? Slightly cloudy.

haha! we do sometimes make a DIY solution of baking soda and salt, but we have all these around to use so why not :p

1st-line Equipment I believe the future is full of bright baristas ... much alike a chef ... they understand ingredients. Much like third wave water is counterintuitive to organic ... yet is accepted by many so called vegans and what not. Educate the sheep 🐑 ... 🤗

Hanna, I am very particular and finicky about my coffee and I have found reheating my Chemex made coffee in a microwave is no problem. What is more critical for your coffee to taste good is good freshly ground coffee, clean filtered water, and making sure the water temperature is between 195 and 205 Fahrenheit during the pour. Any hotter and you get the bitter taste. I can’t stress how critical temperature is for smooth taste. I make a 6 cup chemex batch and reheat at least twice later in the day with great results!
