I'm seriously looking into getting easy green now. I already know my water hardness is pretty hard in terms of minerlization.. Since I do have snails I add a bit of cuttle bone ..

I really like this channel because not only am I learning or refreshing all the time but it also feels like we’re hanging out so even if I know a hundred facts about the topic in the video I’ll still stop by and watch for that. Cake mix is the base, what you do with it is up to you. Like most mixes I add soda water then milk and oils to get it the way I like.

I got a dwarf aquarium lily bulb yesterday to put in the Easy Planter I got from the Co-Op . I had a beautiful one in my fifty five that holds my super red bushy nose,it worked it’s little hart out but the bushy nose kept tussling and tearing it out ( over food or just the males being males) . I have wanted another but have held of until I got the planter. Put it in as a line of sight block with some driftwood between caves on either end of tank. Half filled hole with gravel and stuffed some root tabs in and placed bulb in .Easy Planter should/ is protecting it and hopefully it will take of and look great. Thank you for developing the great products you and the team do!

You guys sell the best products that I've put in my aquariums so far. I only wish you could sell more substrates online. I feel very held back by using all-gravel, and the box stores near me don't stock anything better for plant growth.

I added cake mix to my aquarium like you said to do but I had to do so many water changes to make the water clear enough again. my plants and fish loved it though

Great video. Hopefully there will be more views soon!! Great content not sure why there arent tons of views! Cory I have a question. I am breeding mystery snails for profit. I keep my PH very high for their shells, but recently I noticed my ammonia has spiked and I’m not sure why. Any advice? Currently using GFO for phosphates, crushed coral for PH. Full planted tank, using fertilizers frequently. Maybe I should cut back on ferts or get some zeolite? Thanks so much for your help. Kaelie

One day I'll get to try easy green. Until then, I'll have to settle for a heavy stock load to help maintain my plant growth. Definitelyyyyyy would be better/more easy with easy green though.

I haven’t used easy green before, but I do use several other fertilizers for my fish tank. And just about all of them have the corresponding amount for your fish tank on the label located on the back of the bottle. Only problem is sometimes you have to do a little bit of math.

Interesting metaphor… it works though. I use Easy Green with CO2 and additional potassium and iron. I have really heavily planted low stocked aquariums.

My house plants love my dirty aquarium water after I do a water change/gravel vac. Doesn't always smell great a day or 2 later when the weather is warm (I'm in MO) but it evens out a couple days after

nice job Cory. it seems allot of people. my self included. are inclined to think that if they micro-manage the tiny details. then they can do better than the average noobe right from the start. fact is. if ya look at the big picture and use some common sense .. aquarium plants are not that much different than house plants. or garden plants. & most people don't have much trouble growing vegetables in the back yard. or a Spider plant in the kitchen window. if your tomatoes didn't do so well last year. you use a little common sense & try something a bit different this summer. maybe plant them more in the shade - or more in the sun. use a little more or less fertilizer etc. etc. it's not nearly as complicated as people seem to think it is. # 1 thing. just ("Expect" them to die back at first). look for the new growth. just let them sit. don't keep messing with them. it takes time for them to settle in ..

What's a good way to raise kh my tap water is basically zero for kh and low ph. Plants seem to not keep leaves. My two different vals grow great.

you are so lucky! my tap water has high ph, kh, and gh. It is easier to raise them, you just add minerals to the tank.

Lighting a planted aquarium, dose the light on top of a glass cover hinder the growth? Do I need to not use a glass cover?

if you have a decent - or adjustable - light. don't worry about it so much. it's not the specific micro-managed details that matter. think of it like. house plants. do you put them in the window where they get lots of light. or do you put them farther away where they don't get as much light. it depends on the plant right? I have my light hanging above an open top. so my thought was. how high above the water line should it be? like how many inches is perfect right .. bottom line. it doesn't mater. glass cover, height above etc. etc. it depends on the plants. watch how they grow & use some common sense. are they brown and not looking so good. or just not growing much. they might need more light. just like a house plant .. every environment is different .. you just have to figure out what works for your setup. there's no shortcut for experience ..

It can be shipped and freeze. If it freezes bring it to room temp and shake it, as some salt crystallizes when it freezes. But it starts as salt anyway :)

Most normal plant fertilizers are strong ammonia. This would overwhelm the aquarium.

Can you do a video for beginners adding real wood decorations to a tank?! I started a planted tank and added wood that I got from a wish store and put plants on it. I then put it in the tank. The next day my tank is now all brown. Is there something you do to the wood before putting it in your tank? A different pet store told me I should of boiled the wood first. Hope you can do a video on this topic. Maybe add how to attach plants to wood.

You'll just need to do a couple water changes. The tannins in the wood will leach out for a bit. The tannins are actually great for certain fish, btw.
