Hello friends,
today I'm posting an older video that I've had in the bank for a while because I originally meant to post a different one today 🤪 Today is all about hoya linearis and the best way to propagate it as I know a lot of people struggle with the propagation of this one. Enjoy!

with hoya linearis, the roots always come from a node only! so that's why the excess stem always rots. i usually root cutlings with several leaves on them, but remove the leaves from the last node and stick that one in water or soil :>

One of them did grow roots from the stem but that was the only one 🤣

Is there a need for a heat mat?

It speeds things up a bit but isn’t required. It adds that “magic sauce” to humidty and light. My mat is set to 82. I get roots in 2 weeks in fluval on a heat mat in a lit grow box. Week three they push wines that touch the vessel and I take them out of the box but keep them on heat for a few days to get used to the humidity change first.

I would love to see a video on how to use pon for propagation. Every Hoya I’ve tried in pon has rotted, so I’m obviously doing something wrong. Thanks, and I love your videos 😊

Great video; very helpful! I am going to attempt water, pon, soil, and perlite. I can't abide with the moss and don't own LECA. ;)

영상 잘보았습니다. 리네아리스 삽목은 온도와 습도에 예민해보이더라구요~~

No probs rooting extra long stems in water in March. Took a while before the roots started growing, but when they reached 4-5 cm I potted them up. The jars with them were next to a north-east facing window.

great video. my linearis propagation doesn't go well on a heat mat. unlike other plants and most other hoyas my linearis seems to hate heat mat. almost always the bottom part of stem rots even before producing a root when my props are on a heat mat but this rarely happens when there's no heat mat and it's in some cooler place

Not propagating hoyas... Yet 😁 But always nice to know 😉 Now I'm even more sad you're so far cause I definitely would buy a couple of those 😭😭😭

🤣 i stuck them straight back into the mother plant right after filming this video anyway so there wouldn’t have been any for you to buy if that makes you feel any better 🤣

@@SirPlantsaLot I would do the exact same as you did, so feeling better already 🤣🤣🤣

I did soil propagation and only one cutting survived and it was a double node and is kicking off. I need to add more cutting to fill the pot out.

Wetsticks ?? I've never heard of that description. Can you please explain that?

on a wetstick there is stem and node but no leaf

I think my take away from your experiment it that all the methods worked, just that some were faster to root than were others. Interestingly as I write this on the 20th. I had done two water propagations 23 days ago. No prop box, no heat pad. They are sitting on a south window sill that gets no sun this time of year. Both have rooted nicely. The single node cutting has 2 cm roots, the longer 15 cm cutting has several 3 cm roots. Neither has a growth point. In both cases the roots formed not at the nodes but rather at the base of the cuttings. So no rot on the ends of the cuttings. I am about to put the cuttings back in with the mother plant.
