Our road trip continues through Alabama! The food scene in this state is amazing, so of course we had to do a restaurant & food tour. 🍽 We also explored some incredible nature and tried out delicious, local breweries. Huge thanks to Alabama Tourism for sponsoring and helping us out with this video.

It is so nice to see a positive video about Birmingham. I have lived here for 32 years and I lived all over the country from FL, NY, CA, TX, and many more states and Birmingham is a really nice place to live. It has a bad rep because of the dogs and fire hoses but it is not at all like that any more. Please come visit ...its a great city

Yes, it's true. People who come from Europe have a really weird idea of exactly how BIG the US really is. They think they can land in New York City, rent a car, have lunch in Texas and check into their hotel in San Francisco in time to order room service for dinner! They don't realize that even the shortest route from New York to San Francisco would take three days of continuous driving, without stopping, except to switch drivers at bathroom breaks. They don't realize that several of our states are larger than most of their entire countries.

I'm late to the thread, I just found your channel ! It really warms my heart to see what a wonderful job you did on sharing our fair city with the world. MSNBC came to Birmingham in the early 2000's to do a smear piece on the city. a very close friend invited me to a breakfast where African American pastor spoke. He told how he was asked to meet with the networks journalists and take them around the city to investigate this horrible racist town. After showing them everything they wanted to see they informed him they would pick him the next morning around 7:30 to really dig into the heart of Birmingham. After seeing the racial harmony and seeing how warm hearted our citizens are. They called him from the airport That afternoon and told him they were not going to run the piece since there was no story! So they got back on the good ship MSNBC and left to find another city to slander. We thank you for your openness to our city and such a great production you did. We love you and welcome you back anytime. And in good southern manners I say God Bless you and yours and Y'all come back soon!

Those oysters look good! I'm no experienced oyster eater myself even though I absolutely love raw oysters but I think you're supposed to just put a little lemon or some cocktail sauce on top and definitely chew 'em up a little bit. The liquor/natural juice in an oyster is some of the best though try it with it next time instead of pouring it away.
@calichef1962
@calichef1962 5 жыл бұрын
I don't think she meant to pour out the oyster liquor. I think it was an accident of gravity and the very small "bowl" of that particular oyster. Personally, I like just a squeeze of lemon, or a bit of mignonette sauce which is a lemony-vinaigrette with minced onions and/or shallots, and sometimes some minced parsley and lemon zest floating in it. I don't really like cocktail sauce with oysters because it's so strongly flavored and all I can taste is ketchup and horseradish, not the oyster!
@geno5360
@geno5360 5 жыл бұрын
@@calichef1962 The spots here don't really make mignonette that I've noticed except for the really expensive ones I guess but that sounds delicious. I'm more of a just lemon guy myself but I notice others love the cocktail sauce the places I go to offer for their seafood.

Love you guys, and the food looked amazing. I live in England and I must confess, I've never seen a Scotch Egg with a runny yolk before! But then I live in the West Country and all ours are from the Supermarkets. Yours looked way better though (love a runny yolk).

So thanks for the video because we just moved here and needed some suggestions on neat places in Birmingham to go to!! I can’t wait to go to the next one-5 point Public House Oyster Bar!! At the Pizitz my husband ate at The Standard and I had Eli’s Jerusalem Grill-we loved it all.

Go to The Fish Market in Birmingham ,Dreamland BBQ ,Nikis West ,Jim and Nicks BBQ . Those places that they went to in this video are basically all new trendy restaurants and bars that have only been here for a few years . The Pizits building was abandoned for decades and was an old department store .The places inside are very new

You should come to Little Rock, Arkansas. Lots of cool things to see, big foodie destination. I can set you up to meet one of Arkansas’ foremost foodies. She has written 5-6 books on Arkansas food. She also had a special on Our local PBS affiliate. There’s the Clinton Library. Speaking of civil rights there is Central High School. Tons of breweries. And we aren’t called the Natural State for nothing!
