TWO teenage girls have become best friends due to both having albinism. Lucy Carpenter, 14, and Sammy McCombe, 13, from Melbourne, Australia, have a rare form of albinism.The mothers of the teenagers immediately noticed something was different about their children as soon as they were born, but only received a diagnoses a few weeks after. The pair first met as just babies, when their mother’s went to a support event for families with children with albinism. After briefly losing contact, they rekindled their friendship and have been inseparable ever since.

THANK YOU!! I have albinism but the hair on my head is slightly darker than there's but everything else is the same. And my eyes have bit more pigment in them but I am albino and 14. So many kids at school judge me for it and I hate it. I let it get to me in Grade 7 and didn't want to go to school and tried to just hide myself but now I'm proud to show it and really don't care that im different from everyone else. I just wish i could find a best friend like that. The only difference is i colour in my eyebrows and put mascara on when i go to school because i still am not fully confident.

I’m am Albino myself. I don’t really get teased a lot because everybody at my school is really nice. I’m really the only one who stands out in the crowd but everybody does. That’s what makes us unique!

I used to be friends with an albino. She was one of the best friends I've ever had. Unfortunately she died of skin cancer when she was 24. She always wore special sunscreen, but you can't get everywhere all the time. Best thing I can tell you is to wear loose fitting white long sleeve clothes in the summer made of cotton. You'll thank me when you grow old.

I’m a fellow red head. I used to have strawberry blonde hair but it turned a little more red in my 20s. I still have terrible skin even though I’m in my 40s. I use factor 50 or 100 in the sun!

You and Lucy could both have loads of fun colouring your hair ANY colour or any style, which is pretty awesome. I graduated with an albino, one of the most liked guys in our grade. He always kept a girlfriend and talked to everyone. We had a couple classes together and it didn’t take long for the teachers to separate us because we were always cutting up. We kept in touch some after school but marriage, kids, and life happened. It’s been at least 15 years since I him.

A kid in my class has albinism, and he gets bullied everyday and I kinda feel bad. Like he would get picked on about where his eyebrows are, why his eyelashes are white, why he was so pale, and why his hair was practically white, etc. Some people would also spot these huge pimples and just throws stuff at him like he wasn’t human, and it bugs me. I’m glad I don’t do that kinda stuff to others, like let the kid live ya know?

As a redhead I can safely claim that being different is an awesome thing. Although Albinism and red hair are two different things I still feel like their similarities is that they're very rare. Albinism and MC1R are amazing things to have. If you have either one or even both, EMBRACE IT! You're unique :)

Me too! Super pale with tons of freckles and naturally my hair is strawberry blonde although I color it with fashion colors. These girls are absolutely gorgeous!

I also have albinism,mine affects my hair,eyes ,and skin...my eyes are a natural color but I can’t really see out of them and my eyes shift from side to side plus I’m actually half African American and people don’t believe me but I know I am cause my father is African American

I have albinism too! This was awesome to watch! I love your guys story and I hope the best for both of you. I am 17 almost 18 and through my high school years I struggled with being different. It wasn't easy standing out so much and people staring. My big piece of advice to you two is to stay strong and stay by each others side. Through the highs and the lows. You may be "different" to this world but your just like anyone else! your heads high and just embrace who you are. What matters is your inner self. Not your outward appearance. You appearance is what people judge. But if people really get to know a person they'll find that your just like everyone else.

There was an Asian girl at my school with albinism, she did her makeup to make herself look like a porcelain doll. She was the sweetest person ever! She had the most amazing red eyes, it was super interesting to see.

there's a boy in my school who had albinism. beautiful white hair and fair skin, I often see him with sunglasses. really wanted to talk to him cause I always see him alone after school, but its not normal for a person you don't know well, who is a few years older than you, to just come up and start talking. its been 4 years since I hv graduated and I hope he's doing well too, and probably find friends who sees him for who he is and appreciate the beauty of albinism too

I had a friend throughout middle school and highschool that had albinism. Never saw him as any different but he was also african american so he was the only one in his family to have remotely light skin. Beautiful man might i add 😍🤗

i hope i can get a friendship hell even a relationship as strong as y’alls it’s so beautiful to see there are people who can love another person no mater looks , past , family , bullies ETC . All my friends neglected me once i dropped out of high school before the 11th grade because my learning issues got the best of me and my health . I missed so much school and the teaches gave up on me because i wasn’t able to understand and catch on to things. Salute y’all for loving each other no matter what 💜 stay friends forever no matter

you have to figure in the fact that they are Paperwhite so like most white things they reflect colors around them like when they were wearing those bright jumpers they looked reddish. Plus they still have blood and it's still red so they can get flush. also their hair may be stained almost a yellowish from constant touching with their hands. skin oil and all. You have to remember they're not aliens they just don't have as much pigment as everyone else
