Learn about the first televised famine and reactions to it in the Nordic countries. In this film, three researchers talk about the Nordic responses to the famine following the Biafra region in Nigeria claiming independence in 1967. They are interviewed by students from Aarhus and Helsinki Universities.
In this group of films for the New Nordic Lexicon, students ask researchers to talk about an object, event or place that represents their research. The researchers are Norbert Götz, Carl Marklund og Susan Lindholm, and are involved in the project 'Civil Society without Boundaries: Nordic Humanitarianism Facing the Biafra Crisis' funded by the Swedish Research Council. The students are Agata Pyka and Gaëtan Gamba from Aarhus and Helsinki universities.
This film was made with support from the A.P. Moller Foundation, and is produced by nordics.info at Aarhus University which grew out of the university hub Reimagining Norden in an Evolving World (supported by NordForsk).
