The Big Sailing Adventure Ep. 5: Rio Guadiana to Olhão

Күн бұрынI cruise up the Rio Guadiana and visit Sanlúcar in Spain and Alcoutim on the other side in Portugal. Both places are worth a visit. From there I sail to Tavira, also a very beautiful town at the Algarve. We continue to the island Culatra, which we approach from the east. Here the passage is not that easy because the chart is incorrect and it is very shallow. But thanks to the forward scan, we can get through well.

Happy Holidays! Thank you for the tour of the Algarve in Portugal. In 2019 I was thinking of relocating to this area but then we had the Pandemic so my plans changed. What a beautiful area and I liked the idea of being able to take the Ferry from Portugal to Spain!

thank you for another great video. I noticed you added a bicycle to your crew roster. Great idea for getting around town. I love watching your videos and really, truly appreciate that you film in English on top of your native language. Just curious about your nautical background and hoping you could clear up something. How did you become a captain? And is it true that if you're not a licensed captain you could have your boat seized and be arrested?

Thank you very much! I have 7 licenses: pleasure craft inland sailing vessel and motor vessel, pleasure craft sea (coastal for both sailing vessel and motor vessel), pleasure craft sea (12nm zone), radio inland and sea. The last one is special for Germany the license to buy and transport the signal flares. All those do cover national regulations regarding those licenses and I think for almost all countries in the world. Not sure if you would be arrested and the boat set up or put at a chain if you cannot present a license. Best regards 😀⛵⛵

It has not been used much on those short cruises, but I could test it during the cruise from Portugal to the Canaries (Ep 7, currently in preparations) and it performed well giving my one day 145 Ah. Kind regards 😀⛵⛵

Every 20 years you have to replace the electric wires. Do you know how much it cost for Bavaria 38 2004 modell to do such a job? Best Regards from Sweden

I have no idea about those costs and think it very much depends on the country you are buying the wires or placing the order on a company to do it. Best regards 😀⛵⛵

Please don't do major ocean crossings without emergency water or rely on the water maker 100% for such journeys.
